Has anyone used their own ties with the tuxes - I don;t want a plain tie (the kind that usually come with the tuxes). I want to do a patterned tie (maybe paisely) that incorporates the colors of the wedding. The guys are going to wear charcoal gray tuxes with a silver or gray vest (not sure yet). The BMs dresses are platinum (dark silver) and they are carrying pink and purple flowers. I wanted the guys to wear ties with a gray/silver background and purple/pink pattern. Does that sound crazy or do you think it would work?

Yes, that's what we did. Just make sure you get the regular collar shirts, not the winged shirts with the ruffles down the front.
We got our ties at a website called the tie bar so many colors and you can order a few different ones, compare the colors and then send back the ones you dont like.

There is a 'Tie Bar' in Penn Station/Amtrak Station. Our tuxedo place let us get patterned ties which we did a varying stripe. Feldmans in Lynbrook was phenomenal!

for the GMs, we used the black ties that came with their rental so they will match the girls in their black dresses. For DH, we purchased a yellow tie (so he can match me with my yellow shoes) and for the Dad's we purchased green ties to have them stand out and bring in the other wedding color.

did you go to the tux places yet? we are getting our tuxes from tuxedo park and they have regular ties, not the ones with the buckle, which IMO regular ties look nicer
they also had some patterns in the ties for the guys

FH is wearing a silver & white Gucci tie, with the signature Gucci logo we got this in Venice last September especially for the wedding. Hew will wear it with a plain white vest. The guys in the BP will wear textured vest with plain colored ties, all coordinated to match the girl they are paired with.
