How far in advance do you start looking into tuxes?

Right now I'm 8 months out.. but we have 4 OOT groomsman that will all be here for 4th of July weekend.
There is a 99% probability next time they're in NY will be for my wedding... so I'm guessing they need to get measured now? Do I need to pick them out now or can they just be measured?

they can get measured at any tailor and mail their measurements into the tux place. no need to do it now.

I'd rather have a place do it so all their measurements are at the same place so it doesn't get f-d up. If they're all here there is no reason for them not to do it at a place.
Doesn't mean I have to pick the tuxes I don't think, but I'm not sure.

they usually want them measured closer to the date. Its fine to have an OOT tuxedo shop measure them. Typically they will try on the tux when they pick them up and any alterations will be done then.

We picked the tuxes out first, set up a group and then had the guys go whenever they could to be measured. That was about a month and a half before the wedding.

It is usually best to do it closer in case they loose or gain weight. Any tux shop near them will measure them for no charge as a courtesy among tux shops. If you really prefer to do it at the shop you are getting the tuxes from, you could bring them there to get measured and hold on to each guys measurements until you are ready to book or see if the place will let you pick out styles later.

yeah that's what I was thinking would be ideal.
