Tuxes & ?? on Dad's that have one already

Do the Dad's tuxes have to be the same? Do they have to match the GMs?

For those that have Dad's that have a tux already: Did your Dad rent one anyway? I can see my Dad being a pain about this if he has to rent one. He is a pain when it comes to clothes even if its a pair of socks.

Personally I don't think the dads have to or need to match the bridal party. Not sure if there is a 'rule' stating otherwise...I just don't see it as necessary. Dads usually prefer the more classic (2 button) tux look whereas the GM are (usually) younger and perfer a more stylish (3 button, etc.) look. JMO.

The Dads do not have to match the GM. My FFIL wants to wear the same as the GM but I want my Dad to be different (since he is the FOB ).

I don't know about existing rules but my dad is insisting on wearing the one he has had for years, I guess it is special to him! Nothing I can do to stop him!

No I don't think they have to match - my dad has his own tux and was going to wear it until he heard that the bridal party will be wearing Tails and he now thinks that sounds like fun and wants to get tails also - but there is NOTHING saying that the dad has to match the party

I don't think they have to match!

My dad own's his own tux! My stepdad will have to rent one, and FH's stepdad lives in PA. So I think that all the fathers are going to wind up in different tuxes anyways, what is the sense in trying to organize them. My dad will probably have a fit if he has to rent one, when he own's one already. I think as long as they match their wives, it will look fine! ^

According to our tux shop, the Father of the Bride in not technically part of the Bridal Pary. He can wear what ever he wants. He does not have to match the Bridal Party.

I was willing to let my DAD rent whatever he wanted, but he decided to go with what the Bridal Party is wearing. The only difference is his tie and vest. FI is wearing gray tie and vest, GM are wearing black tie and vest, my dad is wearing a gold tie and vest.
