My FH is concerned we are asking his BM to pay too much for our wedding. The tux's is $175. Our BM is from out of town so he also needs a hotel room for 3 nights ($500) I say we should pay half and he the other, that's about $340 each - is that too much to ask? MY FH thinks we should pay for more....

I think your ofer for half was more than generous. You are already paying for so much. Plus, when the BM accepted the resposibility he had to know he was also accepting an expense. Maybe he can find someone to stay with for 2 days and only get the hotel for the night of the wedding. That's what my girls are doing, b/c I have 2 from out of state. They are actually staying at my place for 2 days and only getting a room for after the reception. See if your FH likes any of those options. Otherwise I think half is fine.

My FH thinks that it's rude NOT to pay for the hotel and the tuxes. I talked him out of the hotels but not the tuxes. Oh well. I think they should pay for both but in Ireland, where he is from, the bride and groom pay for the outfits for the wedding parties (which I'm sure are much more inexpensive than they are here and most of the time the BM's rent their dresses, at least that is what they used to do)
I guess since they are flying over and paying for hotels then my fh paying for the tuxes is not a big deal. Don't get me started on the fact that my fh thinks his groomsmen shouldn't be ushers either. Man, these guys have it good.
