Thanks, ladies!

cets1290, I know him really well too-that's why we went with him. I'm planning from California so I'm really trying to make sure I have great vendors that I can trust to really stay on top of things, and I know I do not have to worry about Anthony letting me down! I have a feeling we must be from very similar areas if you know him, though!

i was friends with his nephew and his whole group of friends from Sewanhaka HS... I went to Catholic school but hungout with that entire group, and they all used GQ for their sweet 16s and grad parties when we were in HS

If you went to SHS, look into OLV in Floral Park, they redid the whole church it's beautiful

Haha I did go to SHS! I used him for my Sweet 16 too. OLV Is a good call. I'm going to try St. Catherine's in Franklin Square and St. Anne's in Stewart Manor also. I don't really love St. Vincent's so I'm going to go ahead and skip that one haha.

St. Anne's is really beautiful and is actually where I received all of my sacraments, but they are really AWFUL there and are really judgmental during pre cana from what I hear. When I contacted them to get copies of my paperwork on my baptism and confirmation, (I needed to give copies to OLV because I didn't receive the sacraments there) they grilled me for like 10 minutes when I got there about why I wasn't getting married at their church, how they were disappointed that I was going somewhere else, and that you are supposed to get married in the bride's church not the groom's.. they were just really really rude, so I'm glad I didn't go with them. I also heard they require over $1,000 in donations!!

St. Catherine's is a beautiful church. I saw one wedding there and it was really nice... I ultimately picked OLV because the donations were about 450 total, it was just redone, I liked that it was small and the aisle wasn't too long lol, and I always liked that the church was in the center of town and wasn't really on a main road like Notre Dame in NHP and some other churches... My parents, my fiance's parents, and most of our aunts/uncles also got married there so we thought it would be nice

I'm sorry you heard all of those awful stories about St. Anne's and had a bad experience. I didn't encounter any of those issues. My pre-cana was amazing, and far better than those of my friends who had to sit through a full weekend of it. We sat around eating pizza in someones living room talking with two married couples. It was two nights in total, from 730-9 and that was it. The suggested donation is only $500.

Oh wow they must have changed Pre Cana. My sister did it years ago and had a terrible experience because her fiance wasn't Catholic and they were really judgemental. They also were rude to the couples who lived together. But it sounds like they do Pre Cana the way OLV does it now, ours was 3 nights I think for like an hour and a half. We had it in someone's house too and thought it was really nice and laid back. Such a nice way to do Pre Cana, and it's good that alot of churches do that too! And the donation isn't as bad as what my friends told me. One told me 950 and another said 1000, but they must have added extra stuff or something that would warrant a higher donation idk

That's what I'm afraid of. My FI isn't Catholic (he's not something else, he's just not anything at all) and we do live together, so I'm worried about finding a church that isn't going to condemn me to burn in hell haha.

Maybe I'll wait on St. Anne's and try the others first.
