I am getting married here on Sunday May 21 and have an overseas wedding the following Saturday May 27. Should I wear the same dress or buy 2 seperate dresses? I would like to wear the same dress for sentimental reasons (I want only one wedding gown) and also financial.
BUT, if I wear the same dress then my dress will need to be cleaned in ONE day!!!!! We are flying out on Tuesday, to finalize everything with our vendors there. Is it even possible to get my dress cleaned in one day?
What are your thoughts?

Re: Two gowns or Clean 1 Gown?
Hmm, thats a tough one.. I would call some cleaners and ask around... Or how about getting it cleaned overseas, since you will have more time there.

I dunno if you can get your dress cleaned in one day, but I would def try to do so. I completely understand both your sentimental and financial reasons for only wanting one dress. The only other suggestion I have is to wear your dress on the 21st (as your actual wedding day, when you'll exchange your vows) and then just wear a simple white dress overseas. I'm afraid of something happening to your gown if you travel with it, as if you haven't thought of that before. Sorry!!!

Lauren....ohhh....I have never thought of getting it cleaned overseas. Worth looking into...
Cindy....I looked into that and if you maker arragements ahead of time, some airlines actually have closets that they will hang your dress in....
I just don't know what to do...
Any other ideas ladies?

I would definitely want one gown UNLESS one is more formal than the other...in that case go with 2.
I am having 2 because we are having a private church ceremony after our wedding and I don't need a fancy gown...
Like the other girls said, I would try to get it cleaned over there

Re: Two gowns or Clean 1 Gown?
I went to a wedding last weekend...the ceremony was on Friday and the reception was on Saturday. The bride wore 2 different beautiful wedding dresses! It's all up to you. If you would like to wear the same one make sure you arrange ahead of time to get it cleaned so you don't have to worry too much!

Perhaps you could wear your gown for the second day's ceremony without cleaning it, and then change into something else for the reception?

I would probably get two gowns, especially if you have to fly with your gown. I would want something a little more simple, something I could carry-on the plane.

i would the more formal wedding gown for when you exchange vows and then overseas wear an easier gown to travel with and if it is less formal you could wear a less formal gown/dress
I have to ask: Where are you getting married overseas??? Thats fun!

I think 1 gown and get it cleaned. But make sure the cleaner can have it back to you in time for your trip overseas. I'm sentimental too.

I am having a civil ceremony here at Eastwind, and getting married in a church in Portugal, in Fatima. I moved here when I was 8 and ALL of my family is there, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and all my friends and his family are here...so we are having 2 weddings...It's fun but it's CRAZY planning...
