I'm glad FH's health is better...that's the most important thing. The Friday after Thanksgiving wouldn't be that bad considering that most people won't be working, the only thing is that a lot people might be going on vacations. But at the end of the road, is ur wedding and whoever is gonna be there will show to be a good friend...and for me that's what counts. Best of luck and keep us informed

i have a friend who got married that day! most everyone showed up. it's not really a 'go away' extended vacation. most people stick around and relax, start their christmas shopping. i think it's a fantastic day!!! good luck and all the best wishes to you guys.

I get annoyed when we get invited to a wedding the Sat after Thanksgiving. Personally I wouldn't go. I am always OOT for Thanksgiving and there is no way I would go to one on Friday, not even if it was one of my BMs or a cousin. I just wouldn't. I just want to be honest with you about it.

I'm getting married the Friday after Thanksgiving...and I am so happy we are!

It worked out well for us and our families...

FH has nieces/nephews in college so they'll be home

My family is together for that weekend anyway...

We gave all our friends/family way advance notice (STD's went out the first week of January)

Most people are making a true 'holiday' weekend of it.... Some of my OOT guests are staying thru the weekend and going to the city etc.

And... we got a fantastic deal with our RH.. and while they only do one wedding at at time... most days is one am and one pm... and being its the Friday after TG.. We'll be the only ones there!

If it works for you guys... go for it... Honestly, that's all that matters. People will go if they can, no matter what the date!

I understand your opinion. I had to go to a wedding the friday after it as well...we had a great time and ate and drank, but it was a little tough only because the reception was at 12, but for the love and sake of the happy couple we partied!!! My reception isn't until 7pm, so it's a bit differemt.

Normally I would say that I would be annoyed to go to a formal event the day after Thanksgiving. DH & I host Thanksgiving at our home & then on the Friday we sleep very late & then go to a hockey game. (its a traditaion that we started when we where dating). However, with your situation I think it would be a great idea to do it that Friday.

I think its fine! I can see it being annoying to go to one every year on that day but I have been to one and it was fine!! Plus it was the first thanksgiving in years that the wholeeeee family came up from out of state from. They did thanksgiving as the RD for the fam. it was a lot of fun! love it- go for it-- its your day

I'm getting married the day after thanskgiving this year.

We haven't sent out our invites yet, but I don't anticipate there being too many guests declining.

Most of our out-of-town family is coming, with the exception of a few family members who probably wouldn't come regardless.

I also had no problems with our vendors, which I was a little worried about.

I just recommend sending out save the dates as early as you can.

My cousin got married the day after thanksgiving and everyone came!!! I think its a great day people who need to travel have extra days to come in.

Not sure if this would even be an option for you but what about the day before Thanksgiving? A friend of mine did it and got an amazing deal. Again everyone came to that wedding also!!

Honestly, I would be fine with it. I have a long weekend anyway, most people are off that day. I think for those that actually host thanksgiving it might be hard, but as long as its a night wedding- they would still have the entire day to recover

I have a friend whos getting married the day BEFORE Thanksgiving, wednesday 11/24....AND you'll get a GREAT DEAL...just food for thought !!!

If you have a lot of out of town guests, I would not do it. Travel costs tend to be ridiculous that time of year, and I wouldn't put that burden on my guests.

Locally, its not ideal, but I would attend.
