I'm was curious: What type of ceremony is everyone having?
Writing own vows Repeating a few 'typical' vows from the officiant (I take you to be my wife...etc) Or just saying 'I DO'

Re: Types of Vows
I was home one night by myself and ended up writing my own vows. When I breached the subject with my FH he told me there was no way that he could say his own vows, he would cry. Not that he won't cry anyway, he just thinks there is more of a chance when saying his own words.

Re: Types of Vows
We're writing ours! I seriously can not wait to hear FH spill his heart out to me on the most special day of our lives, and vice versa!
Now we just both need to actually write them!

I originally wanted to write our own but I think I'm going to be too nervous/emotional so we're just repeating after the officiant.

Re: Types of Vows
we are writing our own vows because I think its more personal.
Besides...FH is like a rock... he's solid and the only way I'll see even one tear out of him is by saying our own vows.

Re: Types of Vows
I thought about writing my own vows but we decided to just write each other letter and exchange gifts prior to the ceremony, I think we will be too emotional to do anything but repeat...LOL

Re: Types of Vows
we are repeating after the officiant. The way I look at it is, if you are not going to write your own vows, at least say the standard ones to each other. It's kind of like your letting the priest do all the work and you just say 2 words after. JMO.

Re: Types of Vows
FH wants 'I do' and that's it. I think he's afraid he might cry. We picked out something the Rev. had. Simple and loving.

Re: Types of Vows
since we are getting married in a Catholic church, we only had two options, to repeat after the priest or just answer 'i do' so we chose to repeat after the priest to make it more meaningful.

Re: Types of Vows
We are repeating after the priest. FH and I never really had any desire to write our own vows. I feel like it is pretty special and amazing to repeat the same words and promise to each other that people like our parents, grandparents, etc. have been saying for hundreds of years.
We exchanged a letter during pre-cana that allowed us to put into our own words how we feel about each other, but that was more personal and only for us to share with each other
