Typical budget

I am trying to create a realistic budget for my LI wedding and need some guidance. Can someone provide me with a breakdown of what I should expect to pay (flowers, cake, limos, etc.)?

Thanks!!

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for in your wedding and what is most important to you. I think you should ask yourself what are the most important elements (DJ, photo, flowers, favors). That will guide you on how much you will be willing to spend in addition to your budget. Your RH usually eats up half of the budget and then you can go from there.

I agree with the above post, we are spending a lot on some things and nothing on others! My flowers are cheap, my dress, hall and favors were a lot. No limo, etc. You can go on some of the bridal websites and start with the basic budget they give you (I like the one on weddingwire.com or bedbathbeyond.com) and just begin adjusting it from there!

I agree with others above.... it really depends on your RH price pp and how many guests you're having and how many ppl are in your wedding party. That affects how many invitations you send out, favors you buy, flowers you need on tables and BoKs, BP gifts and transportation needs. You can skip things that aren't necessary like menus or programs. Some RHs supply them as well as placecards, etc. So, really...it varies. We chose to have a DJ rather than a band s save money and we actually prefer it. We're also considering not hiring limos...not sure yet.

My guess is that the avg wedding falls in the $28K range. Most weddings I've been to have been above $35K. Anytihng around NYC/LI area with more than 150 guests should expect to be around $35K inclusive. IMO

I agree with the other ladies. It totally and completely depends on what you're looking for.

I totally agree with the other ladies. I have seen people pull off a beautiful affair for 11k and some at 20k. I've even seen 50k+ so it definately depends. I say set a budget and ask if anyone ever pulled it off on here you are bound to dfind something. I remember someone posted about they wanted nothing more than 4k and they got a couple responses. So its possible with any budget.

It varies from person to person as well as vendors that you work with, the more higher end they are, the more expensive it will cost. Realistically, weddings don't come cheap in the city, at least a minimal of 25-30K stretching to a penny. Unless you specifically work with a network and contact through family and friends who can lend a hand for the labor then expect to spend around that figure. For our wedding, we spend close to 42K for an outdoor garden ceremony & reception for 100 guests (incl. tips, flowers/decor/rentals/venue/cake/catering/limos/make-up/hair/gown/etc.). Unfortunately, we did everything on our own w/o referrals or contacts except for stationary & accessories so it end up costing more. However, there are venues that offer an all inclusive package- food, waitstaff, liquor, reception hall, etc. that could cost less per head. Def do research and look around for the best deals.
