I am meeting with DJs and photographers and am too embarrassed to ask, over the phone, how we pay them and what a deposit is like.
Do any of them take credit cards? Is it a cash only business? Even though FH's mom agreed to chip in for it, I'm going to need to put some sort of deposit down. What's a typical deposit for DJ, photos or flowers?

Don't be embarrased, they get these questions all the time. How else would you know. I think all are different, some do not take credit cards. A lot of people say to do your first deposit on a credit card, this way if anything happens you can fight it through the credit card company. I choose to pay everyone in cash and got a receipt.
Just call and ask, what type of payment do you accept and what is the deposit required to book.

Dj's typically cash or check
Florist - anything pretty much goes
RH - Cash or Check
Photog - typically anything
BUT you should ask because everyone is different. The only thing i can tell you is that Dj's are a nontaxable service. If they lay a line on you saying if you pay cash we will ignore the tax - ignore their service because it is a scam. They are just trying to get paid cash or trying to get some extra money out of you collection 'tax'. Every other vendor does charge tax regardless so doesn't matter typically how you pay.

for a DJ usually cash check or credit card, we put our deposit on a credit card, sometimes they require the final payment in cash don't fee embarrassed, just call and ask. it's such a legit quesion

I sent a check to my DJ and credit card for photo/video. they usually tell you what they accept as payment.

DJ I had to put down 1/3 ($650) and he took cash or check.
Photo I had to put down $500, and he accepted any method of payment I believe, we just gave cash.

I agree the best way to find out is to ask. We had our heart set on paying things with credit card so we could get the points (for HM). I think everyone should take cash or check otherwise.
I think of everyone we've dealt with the only one that did NOT take CC was the RH.

depends on the vendor, each person is different so you have to ask questions dont feel embarassed...Some are independent and dont work for a company so they wont take Credit cards and others you can use any payment option you like.
