I am so mad at my mother right now!!!!!! I went over tonight so we could seal and stamp the envelopes together...when she so kindly informed me that she invited 2 more couples to the wedding without telling me!!!!! I am furiuos! We are paying for this wedding on our own...we have an A list and a B list, B list of which are people that we (FH and I) want to invite that we are holding out to see how are responses are, unfortunately this is the way it has to be! Our hall isn't extemely large so we want to be at a comfortable number and here she goes and invites these 2 other woman to my shower how can i not invite them to the wedding! I can't believe she even did this....FH is so mad and telling me that they can't be invited, there is no way I can do that now that they were invited to the shower....and my mother keeps worrying that the hall is going to be tight! I wonder why!!!! What do I do?!

ha omg she is the definition of a greek mother! Than she has the nerve to tell me that she doesn't think the BMs should sit for the ceremony, it isn't done that way in the Greek church, even though Father Luke told me he would allow it!

My friend got married at St Paul's a few weeks ago and we had to stand during the entire ceremony ( I was her MOH)

I can relate... my mother invited 3 couples and made 2 of their kids flower girls WITHOUT asking me... meanwhile shes not paying for this wedding... She is outta control and the thing is I dont think there is anything that you could do because she ALREADY told them... that was my problem too, once she told them there is no way you could un invite them! AHH sorry your going through this.... just literally tell her that there is NO MORE PEOPLE ALLOWED.

OMG I would have gone nuts!!! It is terrible..i would never do that to my kids. Sometimes I feel like she thinks this wedding is a show for her friends and not what it should be about, Joe and I. It makes me sad, I thought this morning I would be less angry. I am not. I want to call her but I don't want to start an argument so I am going to just stay away. Meanwhile my shower is in 2 weeks. FH says we are not inviting them but there is no way I can do that at this point, they are invited to the shower.

Ugg right. I stress the fact that the hall is a more intimate surrounding and it might get tight when you get to a certain number, that is why I was trying to keep it low. And still she say she is worried about that as well but adds on 4 people. Meanwhile Joe and I still have people we want to invite, it is just so wrong!

I flat out told my mother that I think shes doing this stuff cause she wants to show off! Maybe that was outta line but her adding two flower girls without telling me was out of line too.
I think our families are alike lol, im egyptian orthodox... I know we are very similiar to greek orthodox (church wise and culture)

They both should have come to us before doing anything. Yeah i have to try to not let it get to me, but when it causes a problem between Joe and I, it gets me even more upset. I am done accomodating anyone else for the wedding. I need to do what makes me happy.

Girls, it seems like everyweek my MIL and Mom are calling me up saying 'Well so and so are not coming so i am going to invite other people to take there place' What they dont understand is we over invited knowing that maybe 30 or so people will RSVP no. We G 350 and sent out Invites to 395! What dont they understand that we are over and glad that so and so cant make it. MIL called me up this week and said she is invited 4 more people! FH and I got into a fight over that, cause we are paying for the entire event! four more people means 400+!
