UGGHHH!!! VENT!!! (long, but I'm sure you can relate)

I just wanted to know if anyone else is so sick of hearing everyone's opinion.. It seems like everything I say someone has something wrong with it.. Thank god for this web site because we're all in the same boat and it helps.. We're getting married in 2005.. everyone says.. that is sooo far away.. it's only a year and 4 months.. YOu bought your dress already???? You have too many people in your bridal party.. Your having your wedding at NIGHT?? your letting your FI see you before the wedding to take pics.. HOLY COW.. the list goes on!!!!!! Does anyone else feel like this?????//

ETA: oh the biggest one... YOUR GETTTING MARRIED IN MARCH??? IT's gonna snow, FI cousin said to my face, thanks a lot now we're going to have slup around in the snow.. umm.. fine DON'T COME...

Im getting married in March too. If it snows it will be another memory. Smile, yes them all to death, and do what you want. Everyone thinks they know best. I hear you though, its frustrating!

YES. I got engaged in last May and we are getting married Oct.2004 a year and 5 months. Don't think it is too far away. It goes by SOOOO fast! And seconds after getting engaged, especially co-workers, asked me... 'What have you done?'. They would ask AND STILL DO >>>> EVERYDAY!!!
So i just laughed it off and said i am looking around.
Hang in there, the questions only get more and more as you start planning. LOL

I know how you feel. When I first got engaged last Dec. and started planning everyone said it was too soon to look at dresses,too soon to book reception hall,flowers and photo.
Well I'm glad I did! I didn't feel rushed to get things done I took my time and was able to get what I wanted and didn't have to settle.
Don't let them get to you I really don't think that people know what really goes into planning a wedding.
ETS I have people also telling me that it may rain on our wedding because its in April.

Yes!!! I was engaged in July 2002 and am getting married July 2005. I have not yet stopped hearing from the moment we got engaged how far away it is. Some people even brushed it off like it wasn't serious because it was so far away. I have to say that my choice of vendors had a great deal with how receptive they were to us bookingin advance. Any vendor that questioned us about the legnth of time of our engagement automatically got knocked off our list. Thank goodness my family and close friends have been so wonderful about the length of our engagement . . .

And to everyone who has to put their $.02 in all I have to say is - THEN YOU PAY FOR IT!!!!

well, you know you are in good company with the 05 girls. We hear it all the time. I'm getting sh!t every which way I look. So I feel your pain. I think we need to tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine. (can you tell I'm in an oh so good mood?)

Let me tell you - when I got engaged, the first person I went to for advice about the wedding planning was my cousin who had gotten married 2 years earlier. She gave me the BEST advice I've gotten to this day: Everyone is gonna talk. EVERYONE will have something to say, a comment to make, a nasty unsolicited opinion to offer. Be prepared.

Soooooo true. You can't please everyone so just try make it a wedding that will make you and FH happy!! Good luck and I feel your pain!

yes... everyone seems to have some sort of comment..i have an almost 2 year engagement and after one month theyre asking if i got the dress, and continuing to ask that.... i keep saying im waiting till closer to see if my weight changes alot, but they still ask the next month..

yes, everyone makes a comment !!! I have learned that I just keep things to myself and FI and then others only see it or know about it once it is done. You know how many times I have heard 'your having red BM dresses in AUgust? ISn't that more of a winter color?' After the last comment, I just keep shhhhh about everything !!! It's a pain but better than being upset by someone's comments.

Oh boy - i know just what you mean! We got engaged in April 02 and are getting married June 04. We had so many comments about how far away it was. If it doesn't bother us, why should it bother anyone else?! Everybody has something to say about everything, even when it's none of their business. When I showed my FMIL the BM
dress color, she was trying to make suggestions to change it. MY FH, who is much more patient than me, always tells me to smile and nod, keep the opinions that I value, and let the other ones slide off my back. I think it's good advice.

OMG, I hear it from everyone Why haven;t u done this? WHy havene;t you done that? I showe my FSIL the BM dress I love and she has a comment, Nobodyes ever happy, but you..and they will not be at your special day b****ing and moaning, they will be happy for you....and all the stupid little commentsm etc will fade away...

I have decided to just keep to myself, if anyone asks anything I just sayu they will see next October..I am sick and tired of all the opinions I did not ask for them, Do not give them to me because it is not going to change my mind! My Fsil is from NJ and they do not do a wedding like they do in NY....SO her snide remarks are getting to be aggravating, so I just tune it all out..,
