UGH!!

UGH!!

SO my fmil is demanding that I wear her wedding dress for our wedding. First of all the dress has puffy sleeves and smells like gas. On top of the fact that the dress is 3 sizes too big. Even more horrid that that - FH is on her side!!!

I wouldn't do it either!!! I would definitely talk to FH about it! Its a nice gesture, but if I were to wear anyone's wedding dress it would be my own mom's anyway.

I definitely don't think I could do it either! I would talk about with your FH first and then maybe all of you can sit down together and have a talk about it.

I would die if FMIL wanted me to wear her dress!!
Next time she says something just tell her-though your dress is beautiful (try to keep a straight face) I have a picture in my head of what I want-its the same picture I have had since i was a little girl....etc.

why dont you tell her that you would like to pic out your own dream gown, but would love to incorporate her gown somehow..maybe make a sash out of some of it, or tie your flowers in a small piece..or have the tag sewn into your gown..you can incorporate your moms gown this way too if she wants..and that way you will seem like you want to keep her dress included..and still get what you want

WOW..I can't believe she wants you to wear her dress and your FH agrees!! Is he crazy? I mean it was a nice gesture for her to want to give you her wedding gown to wear for your wedding, but it is YOUR wedding. Let her know that you appreciate the offer, but you would rather pick out your own gown...plus the fact that her gown is 3 sizes too big!

wearing my FMIL's dress! i don't see much of an arguement...it's pretty simple. you just say no, and eventually she will deal.

i would bring up the point of ...she got to wear her own wedding dress to HER own wedding, why should you have to wear hers?

perhaps there might be a way to appease her and tell her that you would be willing to take a piece of her dress and sew it inside yours...so you'll 'have a piece of her' with you as you walk down the aisle. a friend of mine did that...another one took a piece of her mother's old dress and used it as a wrap for the stems of her bouquet.

try and see if she can be reasonable! if not...just gonna have to disappoint her

Future..... MOTHER IN LAW!!!!.... wants u to wear her dress!!!!

Come on... she can't be serious... the lady isn't even YOUR MOTHER and she is requesting this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish my FMIL would suggest this... wait she did suggest wearing her sister wedding dress... not.... I am buying my own dress and you should do the same!!!!!!!!!!!!

if the material is in good condition you could always explain to her that you are sorry but it is not the gown that you have always dreamed of (in such a sweet and gential tone)
and ask her you could use her dress to create the gown of your dreams.

I am going to to use the material from both of my sisters gowns to have my dress made.
( i wish my mother still had her gown but i am out of luck with that and his mother eloped so there was no gown from her)
