So fh and I had found a co-op that we really liked but bc fh is out of work but working off the books I would b the one carrying the mortgage. We went to a mortgage broker and got pre-approved so we went and put a bid on the co-op but bc my income is a little less than the board would like we wouldve had to put over 50% down so needless to say its a no go. So why the heck did I need to be pre approved if the co-op board was going to deny us anyway. So mad and aggrevated that we wasted all this time! I hate this

co ops are the worst. You should always be pre-approved before really looking for houses seriously. it does make it a lot easier. Co ops have their own rules though its a completely different animal.
Maybe try a condo instead?

I hate banks and mortgage companies!!! They are all pathetic! They send you stuff thinking your going to be approved and then they have a million reasons why they wont approve it. UGHHH!!!

Co-op boards ****!! We had an accepted offer on March 3rd and we couldn't even get an interview with the board until the end of June! They really are rediculous!
The best thing I can tell u is that everything really does happen for a reason and you will find something you love!
