Ugh I got a new CRV XL in the end of september beginning of oct and I LOVE the car - but for some reason I went this morning to get into it to go to the ss office and the dmv to change my name and it is COMPLETELY dead. NOTHING AT ALL will work - can't open the doors without a key and NO lights will come on at all. I assume it is the battery - BUT the car is only 7-8 months old and we checked and NO lights were left on - the car was locked up tight and DH was POSITIVE that all the lights were off when we drove it last. We drove it home from the airport last monday and have been doing errands with it all week except for yesterday. has less than 3K on it too Honda says I have to pay to have it towed there and then they will decide if they will reemburse me depending on what went wrong with it. But if it is the battery they won't reimburse me since I can't prove that I didn't leave the lights on.
UPDATE:
This morning AAA came and tried to jump the car and it wouldn't start so they had to tow it to the dealership - Who says they 'THINK' it is the altenator but aren't sure - they don't have it in stock so they are overnighting it to the dealership and they will fix it tomorrow and hopefully that is the problem.

Re: Ugh my CRV is DEAD!!!
Did you try jumping it first, because if it is the battery let the jumper cables stay on for about ten mins, and get a good charge and see what happens.
Does it have an alarm? Sometimes if the alarm goes cuckoo, it affects the WHOLE car. It happened to FHs Pontiac.

Re: Ugh my CRV is DEAD!!!
That is what DH and I have to do tomorrow morning he has a function this afternoon and so I would have no car to get around - so I will have to wait until tomorrow - DH was skeptical about jumping it - since he thought that if it was the battery you would get a little tiny juice out of it - and he thought it was TOO dead. So we shall see it was working perfectly! So to the battery go after such a short time he was wondering if someone fiddled with it while it was parked at the detroit airport. I hope it will jump because it will be expensive to tow it to the dealer which is not that close but about 30 mins away
etd to say - No I don't have an alarm - just one of those ignition locks that came with the car that it won't start without the particular key.

Should still be under warranty. Did you change the radio out of it? I know once I did that and left a ground wire uncovered. It shorted out the car, and drained the battery. My first guess would be the battery, which isn't warrantied. Try replacing it yourself before you take it there.
