Ugh RSVPs

Ugh RSVPs

I'm totally starting to lose my shiz about the rsvps.

We currently have an over 40% no rate...but with only 1/3 of the people accounted for. Of the 120 still outstanding, like 60-70 are OOT. There is pretty much no way we are going to come even remotely close to our minimum of 125. According to my calculations/projections, we're going to be around 50+ under if we're lucky. I already sent out my B list and FH doesn't have one. FMIL said she can scrounge up more people if necessary, but those people are....also OOT.

I'm really stressing and depressed. I feel like this was all a giant waste of money and effort and that nobody cares about us enough to come. I know its hard for people OOT to come, but it's just really depressing. I even can't/won't invite my coworkers because I don't even know if I'm still going to have my job in 2 months!!!

The worst part is that I know I'm not going to get accommodation for not meeting the minimum at the RH. We should have eloped!

Maybe your no's were just frontloaded. When I know that I cannot attend a wedding I send it back immediately because there is no question. So hopefully you get a lot of yes's!

I havent gotten an RSVP in 3 days....it's so depressing!!!

I'm more than 50 people under my minimum and there is no one left ot invite! I've given up stressing about it. If RH wants to be decent and meet us half way when we go in to give the final headcount great, if not oh well. Nothing I can do aboutit now! Try not to stress!

aggghhh I hate this too. I know I felt this way many times about the wedding but it'll all work out.

People have this strange issue about returning the rsvp. If you're going...mail it!

I thought I was going to be under and I sent out a lot of invitations. I sent my invites the end of July and by Labor Day Weekend I was in tears b/c i wasnt even breaking 100. My rsvp date is this friday and the last 2 weeks, I've been bombarded w/ the cards and mostly 'yes'.

Not to worry, maybe your friends hang out w/ mine and you'll get your rsvp closer to your deadline.....PPL.

Don't stress, it'll be ok

I was at least 25 people under....we let FH's brother invite some of his friends, and the RH also waived the fee we had for our ceremony. Def ask the RH, even if it is an extra cocktail hour station or dessert or someting. Or maybe something extra you had to pay for that they could waive? If they dont, i would ask for all the meals that you paid for and donate to a food bank - we did some research and found some charities that would go and pick up the food.

This is exactly the situation we were in. We pushed the issue with the hall and although we still had to lay out the money the extras they threw in were definitely worth it.

Re: Ugh RSVPs

I'm sorry your stressing but try not to. I thought most of the OOT guests we invited were going to respond 'no' but so far they ALL have responded 'yes'. So you might be surprised at who is going to RSVP 'yes'. You still have quite a bit of RSVP's pending so you just might reach your minimum or at least be closer than you think :)

Re: Ugh RSVPs

We invited 176 and ended up with 110 yesses... only to lose 5 at the last minute. So our final # was 105. Our minimum was 100, though.

I think people over-count sometimes. It's so tough estimating these things.

Ali, can your parents invite some of their friends or do you have some singles you can ask to bring guests? Honestly, I wouldn't mind being invited to a wedding last minute -- I'd take it as an honor rather than a slight.

Oh, plus you're no where near last minute. I know you don't have a lot of invites left, so maybe word of mouth is the way to go?

You'll figure it out!!! I have big hopes for you!!!

I think we are going to be close to 50 under our minimum. Some days I stress about it and other days I just say F#CK it whatever will be will be. Besides FH is like a walking invitation he invites EVERYONE in the world including the neighbor down the block that he waves to and has spoken to maybe 3 times.

I totally understand. My RSVP date is Oct 7 and we have 100 people who have not RSVP'ed yet. Is it too late to send out more invitations? Do you think people will be offended? So far we only have 55 yes including FH and I and our min is 120

Re: Ugh RSVPs

I originally thought 2 years ago we'd have 225-250 people at our wedding. I was so wrong.

Our final count is under 100 people from what we originally thought. I think it just happens. Plus we lose touch with peopel also.

When is your RSVP date? They'll keep coming in....

Don't stress Ali!! You have PLENTY of time for this to work out. It's a good thing you sent out your B list.
And regardless if you get laid off or not, if you want some work friends at the wedding, then by all means invite them!!

If it makes you feel any better, with 9 days to go, FH and I are starting to get the 'Can I bring a guest' questions. And we got 2 more RSVP's in the mail today! LOL

Re: Ugh RSVPs

we had the same problem....we invited 230 ppl and only had 95 coming!!! We managed to scramble and invite anyone we could think of and got about 20 more people. with a little luck we'll get 125 or so.

we did what we could and now I'm not going to stress about it anymore.... but I did feel the same way that everything was falling apart

good news is you have lots of time!!! We invited all these extra people within the last 2 weeks and have 2 weeks to go.... so just think of more friends, etc. you can invite!

Re: Ugh RSVPs

Im so sorry Ali

Those RSVPs drove me nuts and then there were those lazy people who dont RSVP on time and then you have to hunt them down.... then, the week of your wedding- people will either say yes last minute or people will back out last minute... it really drove me nuts. Im so sorry you are going through this

I hope that more people response yes soon
