So I had everything set for me and my bridesmaids, mom, fmil, and fsil to all get together for a 'spa day' at a place by me the day before the wedding since my girls are out of town and probably won't be here earlier than that. We would get hair and nails done, etc.
I went to invite FMIL the other day and she says, 'Oh, my girlfriend owns a spa, let's do it there instead.'
Okay, not that big a deal. Thing is, there's only 1 technician at this place. We'd have to take turns getting everything done. FMIL says that we can just sit around and talk and drink champagne and stuff. Two, we'd have to do it 2 days before and there's a chance that my girls won't be able to make it now.
I'm just worried that this is now going to take up the entire day and be extremely boring. Ugh.
FH says that if I tell FMIL no she'll get upset and will hold a grudge forever. (Which may be true.)
I just feel like my original vision was for everyone to be at the spa for like 2-3 hours getting everything done at the same time all together. Not one at a time for like 8 hours!
What would you do?

I would explain the situation to her. Its a lot for one tech to handle and you are right it will probably get boring. Its suppose to be fun and your day I would go with the original plan.

Re: Ugh. What would you do?
I would tell FMIL you have x amount of time to get everything done by every girl and to please give you a schedule. ie - my girls and I can be at the spa at 10, but we need to all be done by 3pm bc we have other appts (dress fitting or whatever else you want to say). Ask her if she can give you a schedule of the girls appts and if its going to be a problem tell her you need to book it elsewhere

ITA with above post...think of something else you and she could do at the spa together prior to the day before, and make it a special thing for the two of you.

Can you tell her you already booked your place? If not, I would tell her the truth. If she holds a grudge, thats a little extreme!
I agree...1 tech is not enough!

sometimes you need to do what you want and not wat everyone else wants.
just say it in a polite way, that the bm's dont have the whole day to spend and have plans after wards and it will be faster if there is more than one person at the spa

I think the fact that your out of town girls may not be able to make it 2 days before is a HUGELY valid reason! Just say that it's a great idea but won't work because everyone can't make it and it's important to you that they do...
Best case scenario is that FMIL is so excited to be involved and wants to help. to her, it is a great idea. She's probably not even thinking of the little reasons why it won't work..

exactly this. and that's really childish of your FMIL to hold a grudge over something so little... i just don't understand what ppl think sometimes. i hope it works out for you!

Re: Ugh. What would you do?
You can also ask since it's her friends spa - could she bring in a tech for the day since you are bringing in a good amount of money....this way she may get the hint that 1 isn't enough and you're worried about it without really saying it....
