Ughhh.. how many people are you having at your wedding?
Im having about 350.. and my parents want more..and yet there only contributing for only about a quarter of the wedding... I come from a culture where it is the norm for having fairly large weddings and its so annoying telling my parents I do not want more than 300-320 tops and I have such a large side ... each immediate family has about 5-6 people in it! ...I have fought with them over this a countless number of times... It really stresses me out, they are traditional... (think of the movie, My Big Fat Greek wedding lol) On top of thattttt, we are having this wedding at russos, which is WAY OVER our budget to begin with, but its always been my dream to have it there... do you ladies there any ideas on where I can cut some costs?? Like DJ,DIY's etc... Pleasee shaaaaree lol <3 thank you

So far we have 268 on our guest list but i'm sure by the time our wedding comes around it'll grow a little more.

im not too much help with the guest list, because ours is at 187 right now and the guest list is the easiest way to cut down your budget
as for saving other places, ive booked the following vendors all for 6500 total..
patken flowers and designs by gina couped up fm entertainment
i did my own stds, cost a total of 5 dollars doing my own rhinestone cake topper-10 bucks prob doing own pocketfold invites for a fraction of the price im using table runners over the linens that our hall provides, but i found them for 2 dollars each to buy doing own table numbers/menus/placecards/programs

well remember usually 20 percent won't come
I would say don't go crazy with 'extras' like menus, programs, cocktail napkins, matches, don't go crazy with dj extas
do diy invites if you can

my guest list is at 450 right now. when all is said and done I'm hoping that only 300-320 can make it. Is that mean?
I'm trying to cut costs on flowers and decor, and doing a lot of DIY. Hope everything works out for you.

Right now our guest list is around 275 and that doesn't include any coworkers.

Hi I am a fellow Russo's on the Bay bride... we are getting married in the Renaissance room so it has a fairly high guarantee. So far, we have 340 on the guest list... however it is forever growing. As long as we have 275 to cover our butts it'll be fine..We are paying for the wedding ourselves so the less people who come the better however if you are going to do things, you better do them right...

our guarantee is 110.
our invite list is 130.
my parents r paying for the RH.
my costs are as follows:
Band $5500 Photo/Video $3500 Limos $2000 FHs wedding band: $1600
yes some are cheaper prices then most others are paying but i shopped around. for photo/video i am using a family friend who does the work out of their home so they don't have any large overhead costs.
my STDs cost me $140 including postage. (my aunt gave us $150 for our engagement, so thats what i budgeted)
as for all the little things (invites, favors, programs, cake topper) i picked everything out, use google to find millions of places to order them from, then constantly price check.

im also getting married in the renaissance room at russos, and i am greek lol that movie is my life hahah jk, but kinda is, were at 380 right now and keeps growing and growing and growing, honestly i just want to cover our min
but you could def save some $ by skimping on invites, totally cutting out std's, getting a dj instead of a band, getting low cp's vs. high etc

thanks ladies... Ive seen a few of you close to or more than mine so I know im not alone haa looll. Well, in my culture, we dont really have STD's, or I dont get married in a church so I guess I will save some there... I am having a linen package though...
We are having a turkish band and I wanted to have a dj for american music... which adds to the budget. For those of you that have booked a DJ without all the extras (lighting, MC, etc..) how much did it cost? (you can FM it to me if you would like). Thanks again ladies!

We have about 185 on our list, but hopefully about 150 come. Not sure what we are going to do to cut costs yet. It seems we are adding things instead of removing. It looks like you don't do STD's so that saves some money. You can DIY invitations, table numbers, etc.
