Soooooo yesterday I show my mother a picture of the feather centerpeices I want to do and the invites I like. Her reaction was complete hysteria... Like beyond belief.. Shes like what do you want feathers for ??? Then she says the invites I like are 'too busy'.. Its demask. So she says it looks like an old persons living room wallpaper... I'm trying to explain that I think its so elegant and just glam.. And I just felt like maybe shes saying that evertyone would be like '*** is this crap she picked'... So now I'm down and completely distrut over this whole thing. FMIL laughed too because of the feather barrette I wanted.. UGH

Awww..I'm sorry... It's YOUR wedding...so do what makes YOU happy. Everyone will have their input ... good and bad... but you should still do what makes YOU happy...
i have had mother issues like that but i think they just dont have a clue...i threw back in my moms face... um...mom ...did you see your rainbow bridemaids that wore hats? enough said!
dont let them discourage you...i am ALL about the damask glam look..and the feathers fit right into that and i think it seems like a fab idea!

aww im sorry sweetie...moms can be like that my mom laughted when i wanted to do a church program..u just have to take it with a grain of salt and trust me i know its hard..bottomline its ur day u do what u and fh want and she will be happy for u guys either way..

Do whatever makes you happy! Keep in mind, as much as we love our moms and try to keep them living in the times, let's just face it - they think like old people sometimes!!! I think damask is lovely and if I walked into a wedding that had feathers, I'd think it was very nice!

oh im so sorry! you should do whatever you want its your wedding... sometimes it better not to show anyone anyhting until after you order it and then there is nothing anyone can do !

I was on the phone with my mom the other day telling her about something about the wedding (I can't even remember what it is) and she was like 'OH THAT'S HORRIBLE, how gross!! Now I'm not going to enjoy myself!!' At that moment I wanted to slap my own mother!!!! LOL I would never, but you know sometimes they drive you to that point where you think it in your head??? So from that point on, I decided that I didn't need anyone's opinion except mine and Anthony's. It's our wedding, not theirs! And you know what? they won't even notice it that day anyway. So you should just do your thing, and don't even worry what people think. JMO

I think our Mothers don't get the styles today. My Mom was floored by the fact that I picked black BM dresses and invitations with black. Whatever. It ain't up to her. If you have your heart set on feathers then feathers it is!

Don't listen to her, do what you love it's your wedding and you can have it whatever style you choose. Damask is gorgeous and i've seen feather headpieces that are to die for!!
