So i went through a lot of effort to get a hotel room block and did some research on pricing and stuff like that and now my cousin from OOT is complaining that $99.00 a night is to much.

Thats a great deal. You should give her a list of other hotels with their prices and show her thats the best deal around. Explain that NY/NJ are expensive and coming here you are gonna spend alot of $$.

You are blocking the hotel rooms as a courtesy for OOT guests. If they don't like the rates, there is no reason that they have to patronize that hotel. If she doesn't like the prices, she can go on-line, find a cheaper one and book it herself! She must be from OOT if she thinks that $99 is too expensive!!

That is a great price for NY! Our is $139 in the summer, which we think is a steal and most people said it is a good rate (however I think one person complained to my mom) but hey this is NY, the most expensive place in the country!

$99 is amazing....my block rate is $149...at 2 different hotels. Just because rooms are blocked doesn't mean oot guests HAVE to book there......your cousin can get a room wherever she wants.....you were just trying to make her life a little easier by giving her a suggestion and in my opinion, she shouldn't have complained to you about the cost

That is crazy. My mom was able to get a great rate through a contact she uses often for business which was $109. Normally $169. It is difficult to make everyone happy.
