ughhhh is this really necessary...long sorry

ughhhh is this really necessary...long sorry

We're booking our hotel block very room. In our hotel, there are 2 buildings. The one in the back is much nicer, and we are booking off that whole building. FH & I will stay there, our BPs rooms will be there, and our parents rooms will be there.

There is nothing WRONG with the other building, this one is just much nicer.

After all that, there will be 9 rooms left in the 'nicer' building- 1 King, 8 Doubles. My parents want us 2 hand select who will be staying in those rooms and only tell those people the names of the rooms. Honestly, idk WHO is going to want Kings or Doubles, or if people are even going to want to book their rooms now, 11 months away from the wedding.

My parents want us to give the hotel a list of who will be in that building.

I really do NOT have time for this... all I want to do is pick 9 families and say hey, we have a private building blocked, here's the name of the building, if you want to stay there, call soon b/c we are opening the block to everyone soon. And if they don't call, they can just stay in the other building...which is like 10 feet away. Is that so awful??? I really cannot be responsible for babysitting everyone all weekend...

Then my mom wants me to send everyone something in the mail to tell them about the Morning After Brunch! Like we will SEE ALL OF THEM and they will get something in their OOT bags!

Am I being ridiculous??? I mean really..these people are not small children...I cannot mother them all weekend!

Umm that's crazy. I'm not even sure the hotel will let you do that.

oiy. your mom's suggestion sounds like a headache and a half. i like your idea better.

we have two hotels - one is nice and $40 more than the other hotel. we are telling our close friends that they should book at the nicer one bc it's nicer. and we're doign this via casual conversation bc they are people we talk to often. i couldn't imagine picking which guests i want to stay at the nicer hotel.

I read it-and I dont think your crazy. But this is the first time I have seen this problem. I think you should do what you want -What ever is easier on you. You have so much to do for your wedding you dont need the extra stress.

Unless...... You mom wants to do it herself

I don't know that the hotel will differentiate based on the list you gave them - I think you're better off telling those people that if they're interested to book and if not you're going to open it up to other families, just like you said. Sounds like such a headache to have to concern yourself with that if the buildings are that close to each other.

As far as the brunch goes, we're actually putting something about it on our accommodations card that's going in the invitation - and we're having a spot on the rsvp card where the guests can tell us whether or not they're coming. But if you don't want to do this don't need a headcount before the brunch, and will see all of your guests beforehand, then don't worry about it! Don't add more stress to your life!!
