ugh..(semi-long)

ugh..(semi-long)

So.. I came into my room when I got home from work and my mom was looking at the Locations magazine and I asked her, 'What are you doing? Are you looking for places for my shower?!' She said yeah. So I said (for the 1000'x time), 'please don't do it at a hall or anything. I really don't want you spending all the money and it's going to cost more then a restaurant b/c of the extra stuff your gonna need (e.x., centerpieces). She said she already had an idea of what she wanted, a garden-y place. Fine... So i say ok.. just remember, I'd rather not have it at XXX Hall (don't want to offend anyone so i'l lleave it as XXX). Then war broke out. She got so mad and said something like, 'Well I really liked it and it's what I want. I'm paying for it.' So I say, 'All I'm asking is that you take what i'm saying into consideration that I would really really rather not have it there for a, b, and c reason.' She says that those are stupid reasons and they aren't true. So then we get into a big fight how I'm a bridezilla etc. Even though I haven't asked ANYTHING of ANYONE (except FH) during this entire process. And it's not because I don't appreciate her help, i would just rather do things on my own. This I think is 1/2 the problem... that I haven't really asked for her help on anything. But it's like everytime I disagree with her regarding anything about the wedding she takes it as a personal attack and goes crazy.

Thoughts?

Its definitely a stickiy situation with the shower and moms. All you can really do is tell her what you think and hope she listens. I hear ya though, my mom and sister keep fighting about my shower bc my mom wants everything her way

I'm sorry A. I'm wondering if she already has it booked and that's why she got so defensive?

I understand how you feel. I begged my Mom to ahve my shower at her house. I told her to use my house if she really didnt want people at her house. But I made it clear that one place she was thinking would make me very UNHAPPY...and she actually tried to argue with me on it. I am not being hard at all-- I'd be thrilled with a small backyard party. Thankfully her friend offered her amazing yard -- so I am hopefully getting my way.

I hope your mom considers your feelings. If there is only one place you placed on the 'do not book' list-- she should be understanding!

its a sticky situation...moms want to plan it the way they imagine it and not always the way their daughter would....all you can really do is try to explain to her what you would like and hope she takes it into consideration....

I'm going to say that in the end, it wont matter if its at XXX. My SIL's shower was at a restaurant she hated. She doesn't look back and say my shower s ucked because it was at the restaurant, she said her shower was awesome. The people at your shower are going to make the party, not the place.

and I can't believe im the only one nosey about XXX,

i didn't want the added stress so i left the shower planning to my mom & sister (MOH). my sister is more of a PIA then me so i am sure she is driving my mom crazy over it.

i said i would like my mom to have it in the house but i have no idea what they decided to do. i have learned that in these type of situations you may need to just let the moms do their things.

oh Moms... What are we going to do??
I don't know, maybe you should just let it happen at the place she likes? You never know, it might be ok and then you wouldn't fight about it as much.
Although, she will probably do the 'I told you so,' which bothers the CRAAP out of me!

You're sooo not a bridezilla, hang in there!!! I'm sure it'll calm down and she'll hear you out and take more into consideration what you said last night.

Nope.. she hasn't booked anything. She said she hasn't even begun to look at places yet.
