Uh oh! 'Something borrowed' is 'something missing!'

Uh oh! 'Something borrowed' is 'something missing!'

Yikes! I am the MOH in my best friends wedding this Saturday. She asked me if she could borrow the earrings I wore to my wedding. I of course said yes and waited until tonight to realize I can't find them anywhere!!! : ( My earrings were hand designed by Thomas Knoll and there is no way her could recreate them in a day and I too far away (Jersey) to take a browse through his inventory....

So.... what do I do with 1/2 left before I have to be at the rehearsal dinner? I attached a poll : )

Also - are MOHs supposed to give the bride a special gift at the rehearsal dinner?

Why am I so clueless? I was in such a frenzy at my own wedding that I honestly don't remember! Terrible.....

Can you clarify your question and the poll for me? What's your ok pair? What do you do with 1/2 left of what?

Maybe you went to bed. But here's an answer to one of your questions...... I didn't give anything special to the bride when I was a MOH, nor did my MOH give me anything special.

see if her mom, sister, or other close friend has something she can borrow. Good luck!!

why not tell her what happened and ask her what she wants.

Agreed!

If you get her a present, though, then it's no longer something borrowed... Not that you couldn't get her earrings to wear, but you'd have to figure out something else for her to 'borrow' if that's important to her!

Agreed. Give her time to find something else to borrow, either from you or someone else. I'm sure she won't get mad - it was an accident.

I think she'd also appreciate having a choice in the matter, rather than being surprised in this instance. It was obviously a mistake, and as others have said, I'm SURE she'll understand!

Thank you girls - I am still BAFFLED that I can't find these earrings! So sad : ( I told her i couldn't find them and she said that whatever I have that looks similar (which they do) will be fine. I hope she isn't mad though.... I am going to run out and buy something else as well just in case. Other than Tiffany's do you which do you think would have a better selection of earrings - Bloomingdales or Macy's? I don't have time to hit all three? My earrings were two little cubic zirconia drops with a crystal hanging at the bottom.

Thank you girls for all your help. Out of sheer desperation I called Thomas Knoell and he was soooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome!!! I sent him a picture of the earrings he made for me for my wedding day and he made them for friday afternoon in time for me to run over there to get them!!! He wrapped them and everything. He was a lifesaver and the earrings were beautiful!

My shoutout to Thomas - YOU ARE AWESOME! Thank you thank you thank you! : )
