ulla-maija

Does anyone know if any LI salons carry her dresses, more specifically the 'whirlwind' dress?

I do not know about LI salons but I LOVE HER DRESSSES!!!!! Actually bellepoque wore an ulla-maija but she got it for a steal of a price seocndhand from the bridal garden in NYC. Check her pix -- it was so unusual and amazing.

I know there is a store in Boston called VOWS that sells samples and discontinued gowns for a fraction of the price. They are also know as bridepower.com. I was wondering if there was something closer. I have no problems going up there if this will definitely be the dress, but I want to at least try it on. I really hate trekking into the city if I don;t have to.

Well, bridepower I know about because my friend whose wedding I was in last year got her amsale through them. You do not have to go to Boston though - she found the dress online and they sent it to the city for her to try. You get a week to try and decide if you want to buy. I will dble check with her but am almost 99% sure she did not go to the store at all. They do have amazing designers though...did you look at bridepower?

Yep, I looked at their site and I have e-mailed Pearls place as well. Most salons that I have been in contact with do not carry UM. I want to be able to try on her dresses and see how they look. This is the only dress that I have truly been drooling over and looks like it would look good on anybody. But I don't want to buy a dress without trying it on.

Well I know BPower will send it to you to try on before you buy it!

Re: ulla-maija

I just checked for you and they have the dress 02621 - Ulla Maija Aline
which is whirlwind but it was sold. But if you call the owner with a specific request -- she will find another one for you. If I tell you the discounted price you will cry with joy since I have a good idea of the retail.

I know this gown retails for $4,300 and they have sold one for $1,500. Thats a HUGE difference in price. I was going to use their gown locator but I was not sure if I had to buy the dress since I requested it.

Exactly. As far as I know you do not pay unless you buy; they will send it to you to try for a refundable fee and if you no buy, no charge excpet the shipping. My friend got the Amsale she loved at a kiler price and had a very good experience.

I've never heard of this designer, but the dress sounds beautiful. Do you have a pic?

Migdalia,
I tried to post the link from bridepower but I cannot. Go to bridepower.com and search under Ulla-Maija for in and out of stock dresses -- it is on the 4th or 5th page.

The designer has her own website.I believe it's ulla-maija.com. You can get a better look at her gowns there.

Thanks Deb. Her dresses are so expensive!! Most of the styles look very beautiful, the prices are worth it considering I was rich!!
