Um, do you see anything wrong with this?

Um, do you see anything wrong with this?

My aunt, the mother of my cousin and somewhat problematic ex-BM who is pregnant wants to throw her baby shower the day after our wedding. We were also planning a brunch with our OOT guests and family the next day so it would completely interfere with that.

I'm not even going to say what I think (or what FH thinks) I just want to know what you guys think for the moment.

of course, it's very wrong. I believe that she is motivated by the fact that you will have OOT guests who will then be able to attend the baby shower since they'll already be in town for your wedding.

My DH's cousin christened his son 7 days after our wedding. (and, the child was a bit old at that point, so it was obvious that they were trying to mooch off of our OOT wedding guests...)

well, a few questions...

Does your aunt know about the OOT guest brunch?

Was tha day after your wedding the only day she could have held it based on her and her family's own constriants?

I'd be pretty pissed, also

umm, so I guess they don't care if you are there or not. Thats' what I would think if someone in my family did that b/c I am not postponing my honeymon for a baby shower.

Yeah, it does seem like she is just trying to make sure people will be able to go.

I say send invites for the brunch out now, even if you weren't palnning on having invites.

It will probably be ok, but she should be considerate enough to have it after the brunch.

I agree with everyone else. I think she's just trying to get the most out of the OOT guests... If people really want to go, if they are out of towners, then they would make it a point to be there.

She's just thinking of herself. Maybe she's jelous of all the attention your getting b/c of this wedding and she's wants some time to shine.

My dh's family threw a bridal shower for dh's aunt the day after my wedding.

I was in the bridal party, it was a huge inconvenience. But they did that because all the oot guest were here.

I got over it, dh didn't leave for the hm until monday (our wedding was sat, the showere sunday). Dh and I went for a few hours.

At first I was annoyed too, but then felt bad that no one would fly up for her shower otherewise, so I was happy for her.

send your brunch invitations out....
if she wants to do it on that date she should AT LEAST push the time back to accomodate your event
