Just got a call that our hotel block is null and void-- due to the hotel closing. I'm annoyed & upset. We booked a year ago. now we have to start over 5 months out.
this is/was wyndham brentwood. i raved about them on here. delete those posts! haha
Anyway they are offering us the same deal to holiday inn plainview - same deal, with shuttles and they have a bar. Any reviews- especially on the suites? we are going to check it out this weekend. the problem is that it is 30 mins away vs 12 (which was kinda far!)
Any other recommendations- especially from other larkfield or TC brides? I am not staying at holiday inn ronk/ hauppauge or sheraton hauppauge.
or, any shuttle reccs ? i am contacting our limo company!

I know the Hampton Inn didn't have shuttles however maybe if you called them and explained the situation they may want your business bad enough to offer shuttle service? It's an option worth a call!

true, but that lady was IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of !
its just so annoying because i had a full weekend planned of wedding stuff and i've been out of town for 3 days. i get that they are out of business and all but .... they've also been through 2 sales managers and 1-2 general managers since we booked. i should have seen this coming. ughhhhh

I don't have any advice on the hotels but don't worry too much about the distance, everything will work out.
My cousin got married at Thatched Cottage and had her hotel block at the Melville Marriott if you want to check there as well.

Hi! We are booked at the Sheraton. They dont offer a shuttle but we liked that they had a bar and there were restaurants and a 711 close by. Why not the Sheraton?

We checked out the Melville Marriott and Huntington Hilton. Huntington Hilton was nicer AND gave us a better price. We didn't make appointments to go see anyone, and HH was fantastic; very sweet and accommodating. The woman we spoke to at MM (after waiting 15 minutes) was acting so disinterested in everything and just looked BORED! Plus, the rooms were more expensive and not as nice as HH.
As far as a shuttle, they both give you recommendations for an outside company.
If you go to the Huntington Hilton, talk to Annette - she was wonderful.

I can kind of agree. We only looked at the Melville Marriott. I liked the Huntington Hilton but I used to go to numerous functions with a boyfriend prior to FH, so it just didn't feel right to use them.
We had the same experience at the MM.
We are booked at the Hilton Garden Inn in Plainview. It is sooo pretty with updated rooms and they gave us a steal on the party room for the rehearsal dinner the night before. I looked at the map quick and it looked like it might be kind of far. But if you want more info, FM!!!

I would suggest Huntington Hilton, or possibly the Hyatt in Happaugue. That hotel is AMAZING and affordable (at least when I stayed there for Valentine's day a few years ago)...not sure if they have a shuttle or the other extras

Crashing! I just set up my room blocks at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge. They were great and gave us really good pricing!

Try the Hampton Inn Commack. Maryann was tough to get a hold of, but keep trying. They only offer shuttle service to/from Islip and LIRR Ronk, as the shuttle only seats 5 people. Hotel shuttles are tough to come by. We were told that, due to the economy and hotels losing travelers, a lot of them either downsized their shuttle or completely got rid of them. Good luck!

If you don't have a problem with a yellow school bus, I can give you the contact info for someone at First Student. $400 total and that includes multiple hotel pickups (as long as they fit within the allotted time) and it seats 48 people. Good luck!

I have a block at the Hyatt in Hauppague $149/night. In their hotel there is Mark of Elegance limo and Im having them do my shuttle. Sets my mind at ease that their office is in the building. Also, their bar is open until 2am

We're booked with the hilton garden inn in plainview. i haven't gone there yet but they offered a shuttle, have a in-house bar that they will keep open for you until four, and they don't make you put down any money for the room block. they've been a pleasure to work with so far. I've seen many other hilton garden inns on the island and all are similar. very clean and modern.
