UNBELIEVABLE!!!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

My aunt sent my mom and e-mail basically complaining about the cost of the hotel rooms that I blocked back in September. (keep in mind I let everyone know the costs back then). She even went so far as to ask if my DHgets a discount because he's a cop, to which I responded no he does not and if he did I would have done that from the beginning. The rooms are $144, but I assumed people could request 2 beds and split the costs of the room which would make sense since they are her children. I guess I assumed wrong. So..I responded to her (nicely) giving her other hotel information, and letting her know unfotunately there are no hotels in the Bronx, only the hourly ones, whcih I'm sure she would not want to stay in!!!!. Her boyfriend offered to pay for the room, but for some reason she didn't want him to. So to make a long story short, I offered to let her stay w/me although I have NO room, and will have my mom and brother in the house the day before the wedding and day of.

Later on I get a phone call from my cousin who says, my aunt OFFERED her spot to my 2 cousins, one of their husbands and 2 children and even went so far as to tell her that I offered MY BED..can you believe that? She did that because she finally agreed to let her boyfriend pay for the hotel room!!!! Now that really pissed me off. How do you do that? I told my cousin, first I really don't have room, but since your mom was complaining that is why I offered to let her stay w/me but told her it would not be comfortable!!!. Second, everyone has known about this for almost a year, and NOW it's an issue? I don't understand how I have to be responsible for finding other accomodations (other than the hotel) for them. I booked rooms that are the closest to the Reception hall and even gave them additional listings of hotels that are 17-18 minutes away. I can't do much more. The LAST thing I want/need is to be STRESSED out on my wedding day with all of these people in my apartment. I could see if I had a HOUSE but I don't. We have a 2 bedroom apartment!!!!! I don't understand!!!

There are always going to be some guests who believe that the cost of your hotel is too high. $144 is perfectly reasonable. You can only provide a place for people to stay. If they do not like what you have chosen, it is up to them to figure out another way. It seems like your aunt has the means to pay for the hotel. Don't let your aunt stress you out and ruin your wedding day by cramming into your apartment. You don't need that on your wedding day.

Thank you!! That is what I said. How the HELL do they all assume that I would want all of them staying w/me? Typical of my family though...and this aunt in particular. She ALWAYS has something negative to say/add. She even went so far as to criticize our invitations, saying 'I've never seen an invitation w/so much stuff'. So much stuff? We had 2 registry information things, the RSVP card and directions. UGH!!

Yeah. People will ALWAYS find things to complain about.

One of my DH's aunts asked his step mom to pay for her room!!! And DH's stepmom paid for quite a few things b/c her three kids were in the wedding. Another uncle of his asked us to get a BUS from Brooklyn to Giorgio's or 'no one will come'

Just laugh at it.

Re the invite, she may have been making a snarky comment about the registry cards, people seem to get a chip on their shoulders about putting those in wedding invites.
