I've been a bit frustrated with our RSVP's - I sent out invites 2 weeks ago and I am only receiving about one a day - I have a feeling we'll be making a LOT of phone calls soon
So here's my unexpected reaction part ... I've gotten 3 envelopes with regrets and I find that I'm oddly upset and disappointed each time I see a check next to the 'must decline with regret'! I KNOW not everyone is going to go and in fact, we invited 170, guaranteed 100, and are hoping for about 125 - so we NEED some no's... but my heart still sinks a bit when I see the no's. Someone slap me out of it
Seriously though, I think it's bugging me because all three regrets are from FH's side (he invited less people overall to begin with!). And two of the three are family of his. I just want him to have his loved ones there to celebrate our big day I know that the people that the people most important to us will be there, but I don't want him to be upset or sad or anything.

Re: Unexpected reaction to RSVPs
Dont worry right now, I alot of people send their invites at the last min. I dont' know why..but they do.. dont' you hate that? as you said you guaranteed 100 and you are inviting 175, so let say 30 ppl say no, you are still cover. I know it is important to have his family around, but what can you do when people say no..and most important you two will be there

Re: Unexpected reaction to RSVPs
Don't worry too much yet. We got a lot in the first week, then nothing for the LONGEST time.......then a couple of weeks before the wedding more came in. We had to call 75% of our guest list though becuase our invites got shredded at the post office and never delivered
But, like I said, don't worry too much......they will be coming in faster soon......

Re: Unexpected reaction to RSVPs
the firsxt week or two we got a lot of responses - then they slowed down to one or two a day -- and we started getting more closer to the response date. but I know what you mean about being surprised by responses. there are some people I thought were automatic 'yes's', with save the date cards an all -- but we still some of FH's family is not coming. and we just did our seating arrangements and ended up with 16 tables and only 6 of those are FH's I felt kinda bad, I wished he had more 'yes's' on his side. but he said he's fine with it.

Re: Unexpected reaction to RSVPs
Hey MissQ, don't get yourself frustrated. I sent my invites I believe on August 5th and I have recieved 40 yes's and 3 No's. We sent out 100 invites and the RSVP's are due Sept. 5th which is this week coming up. I highly doubt the other 57 will be coming in so I know we are going to have to call. I can't say I didn't get stressed but I'm almost one month away and don't want to stress myself out and break out.

I know the feeling. Don't worry though, you will be thankful for the No's soon.

Re: Unexpected reaction to RSVPs
I'm feeling the same...I wanted no's...and I also invited 170 like you and we didnt want more than 120......but the fact of the matter is no ones really sending them...our count is 72 yes and 16 no....and our rsvp date is wednesday..people are jerks....but hang in there....i think every bride has to make calls... but everyone keeps telling me to wait until the end of next week

Re: Unexpected reaction to RSVPs
Thanks everyone! I know I'll be begging for some no's cuz dang that reception bill is high! I just really don't want FH to feel like he doesn't have HIS loved ones there.
But yeah, hopefully my invited guests will get off their tushies and SEND BACK THE RSVP's!
