I posted last week that 'Tom' wasn't getting back to me, and a few of you said you had the same issue.
He finally got back to me after 5 days regarding my HM flights. He told me the cheapest he found was $710 roundtrip and I found some for $650 Hmmmm.....
Shouldn't a travel agent find better prices then me?

i had a similar issue. even though he found our flight for super cheap because it was right around the time that jet blue announced that they would be flying to st lucia too. but i used him because we didnt want the hassle of figuring it out ourselves. i definitley would tell him you found it cheaper and if he cant beat it you;ll book it yourself. where are you going?

I'm surprised because we had a great experience with him. Once we settled on a budget he came back to us with about 4 different options and really helped us get the most for our money. Before I contacted him I only saw great reviews.

i did not use tom because he emailed me like, 4 months later, but i ended up using tania from triple a travel in garden city, very sweet and gave us the best deal!

same here. so far i have had a great experience working with him and he got us better deals than another travel agent we looked into.

when we first gave him our budget he came back with four options for us and they seemed like very generic, common (no offense to anyone -- i really don't mean this in a mean way) places -- 2 places in jamaica, sandals in st lucia, and excellence in mexico. then we told him we wanted to look into some other places like bermuda and he got real snotty and said they weren't good places to go and he knows we wouldn't like them but he would quote us anyway. he came back with a lame quote with flights with 2 layovers, etc. then we told him we wanted to look into bora bora -- he got snotty again and we haven't heard back from him. my mom was a little skeptical from the beginning because he says he's an amex agent but he works weird hours, from home, etc. and never answers his phone 'amex', etc. so we jsut aren't going to use him anymore!
eta that when i first spoke to him on the phone to give him our budget and some possible places i told him no to st lucia and no to jamaica and when he came back with options those 2 were 3 of the 4 options he gave us!

well yes travel agents a lot of times get better rates then most people can.. but also we have to make commission on it as well.. so he prob added about 45.00 fee per ticket .. or whatever service charge he adds right into the price.. This is normal for most travel agents.. but most times it should still work out cheaper overall ..

I think I'm going to book the rest of the HM without him....I'm a little concerned because I only put a deposit down on our cruise, I dont know what to do when the balance is due. Go through him or call the cruiseline directly

why dont you mention to him about the flight price first... if he can get you the cheaper flight then do it...otherwise you might run into a problem considering you did book part of it with him!
