UH OH - I got my first response where someone wrote that their baby will be attending (when it specifically said 'Mr. and Mrs.' on the envelope) I have to call her and address it - just wondering how other people have handled this. It's not an option - I have 30 cousins and 20 second cousins...waaay too many to not set an age limit (which we set at 13). We can't make exceptions, so any help with dealing with this call would be greatly appreciated
UPDATE** I spoke with my cousin and she was totally understanding. She said that she was already trying to make arrangements, but said that she would definately get in touch with me if she needed help. I am soooooooo relieved!! Thank you all for your encouragement and advice

Re: uninvited guests
Wow... that's a weird situation. I agree with you... No kids! We want everyone to be themselves and have a good time, which means lots of drinking and dancing. Best thing to do is call them and say that you're sorry, but there's no kids. I'm totally looking forward to having you guys... yada, yada, yada.

Re: uninvited guests
Hey Colleen
Like the girl above just wrote..you def have to nip that in the butt!! Let them get a babysitter, IMO a wedding is not a place for babies!!
How are the responses coming along?? I heard the invitations are beautiful!

Re: uninvited guests
just be firm. remember, they will guilt you into letting them bring kids. if you don't want them...make sure they understand it and stay by your decision!!!

Re: uninvited guests
I am sorry to hear this is happening to you. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be and I know my time will come for it too. We have a lot of cousins with little kids all under the age of 5 and will barely have any room left in our room if most of the people rsvp that they are coming. I have my parents and FILs on my side with this, but they all warned me to expect some bad attitudes about my cousin's little ones not being invited. I have to agree with the above posts...a wedding is not a place for babies or really young kids. I think they would be much happier staying with a babysitter than being stuck at a wedding late at night. I can't understand why people aren't more understanding of this. I hope they don't give you a hard time.

can't understand why people aren't more understanding of this.
People aren't more understanding because although they totally understand that other people's kids are annoying and get into trouble, their little angels can only be an asset to a party--any party. Also, they're too cheap to get babysitters. Mostly the second part. I don't get it myself. When I was a child, my parents were desperate to get out without us! Their problem was they couldn't afford a babysitter very often. Not enough, anyway, to get away from us brats.

Re: uninvited guests
Thats a tight one.... I handed over my list and invites to my planner so if someone RSVP for more seats than alloted she will call them and explain that its by invites only for those named on the envelope... This is a situation that I want to avoid.

Re: uninvited guests
Yes, I had this happen.....twice. I called the guest and explained that we are not inviting their children. We'd love to, but simply cannot do it and can only have adults and children who are immediate family there. The setting is not appropriate for kids.

Re: uninvited guests
I am definetly putting 'Adult Reception' on my invitation. IMO why would you want to bring a baby to a wedding anyway??
