hi ladies- i am invited to one of my first baby showers- and looking for a unique gift (under $50). i dont mind getting one thing off the registry but i like something unique as well...
any ideas will be helpful

I got my friend wood letters and painted them blue and it spelled out her sons name. She hung them over his crib and it looks super cute and it was really inexpensive!

How about a bookshelf for his room? This way what ever books she gets at the shower can be displayed.

this is a good idea but i feel like very close family always arranges for a diaper cake. particularly mothers, sisters and best friends

A good friend of mine just had a baby and three of us (we were her BMs a few years ago) threw the shower for her, but wanted to get her something small to unwrap as well. HOWEVER, we wanted to do for HER, not just the baby. The best way I can explain what we got her is basically a designer hospital gown, so she could be comfortable when he was born, but not have to wear the lousy hospital issue one in all those 'first minute' photos. One of the other girls ordered it, but if you have any interest, just say the word, and I'll get the website from her.

Go to Baby Merry Go Round in Commack. I got a shower gift there for just under 50--- a hand painted name plaque with the baby's name, birth date, weight, and length on it,as well as a portable baby wipe case hand painted with the baby's name on it. I also included the receiving blankets off the registry, and I packaged these items all together in a matching hand-painted sand pail with the baby's name painted on it. The stuff from that store is so reasonable, presents really beautifully and it's nice to have some personalized gifts mixed in with things from the registry! They have a ton of great items there for under 50--- book ends, hampers, trash pails, clothes hooks... just make sure you leave a few days to order!
