Unique Favors

I have noticed a bunch of postings recently regarding favors, so I figured I would give you all my experience. I was having a difficult time finding something unique, that would also be a keepsake. I knew I wanted something along a beach theme because I am getting married at the Crescent Club in August. I was having a very difficult time finding something elegant along these lines. Then I was referred to a company in Glen Cove: The Lightning Bug who will customize a favor for you based on your preferences and needs. They came up with an elegant glass candleholder with beautiful blue beach glass inside and a votive candle. The favor is also going to have a message from my fiance and I on the inside, and it will be wrapped in white silk organza with a small clay white calla lilly to top it off (this will match my bouquet). We are sooo happy with the favor we are presenting and if anyone wants something unique- definately call them. They are so nice and they don't charge for consulting. I don't mean to sound like an advertisement, but after looking for a favor for so long- I was so happy to find them.

I did reply to an email my Godmother sent me about being upset and hoping I could love them again ( just words to me, no meaning) I told her that I was disappointed and then when her sis told me she, her fam and mom and dad weren't coming, how this hit even harder. I tallied the number for her ..12 people. If her bro and fam dont come( which I think they wont from an earlier convo with them) then this Number goes up to 17...their whole branch of the family.

( I dont wan t to think i can't even make my min for the hall!)

Dear Robyn, I am also getting married in August 2000 and like you I am having a difficult time finding a nice, unique favor. Until now I haven't found a favor that is different from everything I have seen so far. Your message is really interesting and I would like to contact the Lightning Bug in Glen Cove, but I cannot find them. Can you please give me their phone number? Thank you, Olik

Hi Dee. I'm using Father Bob. Can you tell me how your experience was with him? Thanks.

Please clarify who you are because I don't understand. Your message says it's from Robyn, [email protected] but I did not send this message.

We wanted a catholic-type ceremony since we were both raised with that tradition but are not overly religious now.

I'm getting my favors from The Lightning Bug also. I'm getting married in October by the vineyards out east and I wanted something that had that rustic autumn feeling and they came up with a candle that has fall leaves inside. We are including a personal note as well, and they are even coordinating our placecards and the tabletop decor for us. I recommend them as well!

I bought the CD today and I think our song is going to be I'm Taking You Home (I think it's easier to dance to).

For My Wedding is also a beautiful song. Hopefully my Band can learn it in a week!!!

Robyn- Your favor sounds great. If you don't mind me asking- what is the price range for someting like that? Thanks

Found a good website- it even has that mickey/minnie cake top someone was looking for. www.foreveryours.com have fun! Stacy

I'm going to be a bride's made in june, and the dress is high in front and low cut in back. We girls just bought the sticker thing, that you put on your breast, i don't know what's the name for that. You can finde them in a lot of stores, i bought mine at Victoria's secret. At mine wedding in august, my bride's mades are going to wear the same thing.

Laura, I don't mind at all. The favors were $8.00, but they gave me a pretty nice discount based on my quantities-Keep in mind that price includes: the handblown glass candleholder with beach glass, and the 20 hr. candle, a personalized note enclosure from my fiance and myself, silk organza wrapping, and a flower topper which matches my bouquet. They are also doing my placecards (which coordinate )and attaching them at no cost! So, I think that they were well worth the price. Call The Lightning Bug, and ask them to send you some information- plus they can give you other ideas. They are so helpful and they don't charge for consultation, so you have nothing to lose. If you need more info, let me know. -Robyn

I would list them both and send one to your grandmother so she knows that she was remembered... it is a nice gesture even though she is unable to attend.

Good luck, Stephanie

Unique Favors - web site?

Do they have one?

Here's an alternate. My aunt always gives the bride or the mother a small shower gift for the household/baby and then gives a gift to the bride/mother for herself. Not off the registry. Sometimes its nice to break from tradition and help celebrate just her as the bride (along the lines of the nightgowns and stuf). Know what I mean?

I'd suggest nice day of beauty at a spa like Elizabeth Arden. She's love it...esp. just before the wedding when she's super stressed. You can order online and they'll ship the certificate to you via fed ex.

Robyn- thanks so much. I am definitely going to check them out. (I would love a Christmas berry candle!) I'll let you know how it turns out!

I'm starting to look for photographers and would appreciate it if someone could give me contact info for Patken and Wright Studios. I'm up in Boston and don't have a LI phone book!

Thanks...
