anyone have any ideas?? for example instead of the candles?? I really don't want to do the candles cause there really isn't any I can do it without having the guests having to hold them for the entire cocktail hour..
and what are you using instead of table numbers?

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Marcella: Ive been to your reception site...why cant your site set up teh candles as people enter the main room instead of giving them out at the cocktail hour.
If you dont want to use the candles, thats understandable. Buf it you do want them, your site should come up with a way to accomadate you.
Other ideas could be related to your theme or your favor. Give me some more info about other decor at your wedding and I will try to come up with something different.

I agree totally. I called my hall & they are setting it up for me the way stef mentioned, right before people enter, instead of cocktail hr.

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Hi guys! I think I want to do something that'll be tied in with the theme and decor of the place...I would do the candles cause I LOVE the way it looks but elaborate masquerade masks will be given out to the guests as they enter the row of doors into the ballroom.. I think having them carry that AND the candle would be much? what do you think??
I'm having the feather centerpieces....uhm. the masks, trying to think of what else..

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Why dont you give out masks based on the table assignment...like tie a ribbon to the mask that give them the number or have all of one sort of mask go with one table.

oooh.. I like that idea... hmm.. how can I do this.. what can I name the tables as opposed to numbering them? I was thinking of using those mini porcelain masks?

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Maybe name them masquerade in different languages....or name each type of mask and use that.
The only trouble with this idea is that you need someone to hand them out that is going to be familiar enough with your guestlist and seating assignment. Are you using a coordinator?

Yes that's a pain.. I'm not having a coordinator.. hmm.. I was thinking of something with a display board perhaps or something..I want something that people will be like WHOA that's original.. I dunno.

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
or I was also thinking about naming them after the Cirque De Soleil's (I love CDS and have been to several of the shows)

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Are there enough Cirque De Soleils to name all your tables?
I think you need to be careful with table naming..particularily since your room is so HUGE! I know the urge is to make it something really different but different always equals confusion. If its totally off the wall, people may be completely stumped.

You're right.. that last thing I need is 234897239847 people ending up at the same table lol
Another thing I was going to do is attach a ribbon on the mask with the guests name and then that same mask would be on the centerpiece.. like this..
Thanks.. yeah it's different.. I just don't want to confuse the snot out of guests..
edited to say how are your plans with your e-party coming along? where are you having it?

Ok.. Since I can't find the 'new' ring I am being so good not to haunt him about it..
There is not a place in my house I haven't looked.. I even check all the food..... UGH!
Anyway...
Its going to be DEF in Feb at Roma View Room. I am not sure if we are going to have a brunch or a party.. But I wanted more of a brunch thingy so it didn't take away from the GALA wedding!!!
That is all I know and that they are giving us a sick price.. Be a bruch or a party which I would do a buffet for a party at night..
After the holidays I will get ON top of it all and make all of you ladies nuts!!!!!

Theresa, where is Roma View? and I hear ya about the whole not wanting it to be soo formal cause you don't want to compete with the wedding.. Ours was at the Fox Hollow and we tried to tone it down as much as possible...
cw, things are going great! I saw it and looks are soo deceiving.. you really think that it's a vase but it's not!

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Howard Beach....
Its on the water and I don't want to make it to much of a HUGE event but with 150 people there how small can it be..
Ugh. I hate to even think about it....
I want to do the brunch and Ronnie is like well maybe we can do a Fri night party with a buffet..
We still have WAY to many FRIENDs in the scene that party way into SUNDAY night and you know how that goes...
I am trying to make it nice for everyone!!!!!

Re: Unique placecard ideas...
Marcella, such a cool idea! Okay, I am thinking about all of the movies with masquerade scenes. You know how there are two kinds of masks, the ones that go on your face with a string tied behind your head and the ones that cover most of your face but are attached to a stick that you hold in your hand? Could you get the ones that are handheld and attach something to the part that you hold onto that has the name of each guest. Then you can maybe put something at each setting to hold them so that they will sort of be displayed around the table below the mask that will sit on the top of the centerpieces? That way you don't have to wrap something around the mask itself.
