'unique' places to get married

Does anyone know of any unique places to get married in Islip Town? We were looking at the beach, perhaps Captree State Park or even a little further to Robert Moses BUT we plan on getting married in May and don't want there to be herds of strangers around. We would prefer someplace a little more secluded...Any Suggestions? THANKS!!

Some of the wineries out East have reception and ceremony sites. They are supposed to be beautiful. The only problem with the Park and Beach sites is that if it rains you could have a real problem. I know Jones Beach has a resturant, The Boardwalk (?), that might also be an idea.

I have my reception hall lined up. What I am looking for is an alternative to the 'church'...we will be married by a priest however just looking for a 'different' location....THANKS!!

Definately speak to your priest and see if he's willing to perform it in a 'unique' place. I was told by my priest that the Catholic Church 'frowns' on having the ceremony at the reception hall, and it can not be outdoors. They would like it at the church or at an interfaith chapel. My deacon was really cool and is willing to perform the ceremony at the reception hall, and told us that if we want it to be outdoors, it should be a 'surprise' to him that day. This was a good solution for us, as we are having an interfaith ceremony, and CW Post Interfaith Chapel is not available for our date.

I would be nervous to plan on getting married outdoors without a back-up plan. I know that you can reserve a 'church'-like place of worship on the CW Post campus in Brookville. I apoligize - I don't remember the name of the building but it looks sort of like a church - Very pretty. I would recommend booking a place like this as a back-up to the outdoor location just in case. Good luck -
