Have you ever seen anything really unique at a wedding either at the reception or as a favor?

My mother got a crystal (or rather, crystal-looking) ice bucket that's nice enough to put on the table during the holidays. It's the only favor she's ever used.
I don't know where the bride got them (it was years ago), but I know she gave one per couple.

i always like things that are practical and that arent personalized! i hate getting things that say 'Jamie & Mike's Wedding' with their date on it. Personalized tags are great, but printed on the item is annoying.....stuff i've gotten that i liked:
luggage tags ice cream scoop an ornament caramel covered apple
i also hate 'wedding-y'items things that are little mini brides and grooms, or little cinderella carriages
us personally are doing bottles of wine all our friends and family like wine so its useful, and if they dont like it and leave it behind more for us!

one couple i know they are really into golf. They had a letter opener (shaped into a golf club) and a pen with a golf ball at the end. It came as a set in a box.
If ur incorporating ur HM, you can do luggage tags
one couple moved to hawaii, so they gave out a box of chocolate macadamians (wrapped) to each guest
I've gotten wind chimes (a mini one) that came in a box.
you could do cookies in a jar/bag with a label.
I've also gotten maple syrup in a leaf shaped container

also wanted to add...my cousin had a booth where they take ur picture and engrave it on a silver tag..can be used as a keychain or necklace. It had their initials on the back of each guests tag. Very unique!

The best favor I had was a DVD and some popcorn for a 'date-night'.
I thought this was GREAT and I got use from it.

Someone I used to work with gave out flavored olive oil and maybe balsamic vinegar since she wanted to honor her Italian heritage. A wedding I attended gave out mugs with a trial sized bag of Dunkin' Donuts coffee (they were known as being huge coffee drinkers). Not from a wedding but I was at an event that gave out pasta sauce and pasta that the restaurant was known for.

For my wedding, I did a cookbook of all our family and friends recipes. We had about 100 recipes from my bridal shower, and we used a professional cookbook company to make the cookbooks. People still rave about our favor, and I get calls from our family and friends everytime they try a new recipe from it!!!

I had a friend who did scrach-offs. She got a nice envelope printed with their names and wedding dates, and threw a bunch of scratch-offs in there. Went over really well!

I got a frame once...very useful.
Also a large salad bowl. I think they were pricey...$5.00 each though but we use it all the time!
Other than that...this is such a hard thing! I think we are doing a donation.

wow that sounds like an awesome idea!! do you know the name of the cookbook company and approx how much it cost per book? sounds expensive

we did really nice personalized christmas ornaments but i dont think that'll work for ur august wedding lol. other than that i love the things u can use - the oil & vinigar bottles, i LOVE the idea of the popcorn w/dvd but that i guess can get pricey....i also LOVE the cookbook idea. very different - very unique! i've also gotten ice-creme scoops, ice-buckets. again - i like practical gifts! things u can use my cousin also just did cd's. All the songs that were used throughout the wedding & songs that were special to them. Super easy & very inexpensive! she made insert cd jackets as well with all pics of them inside...good luck! hopefully all these ideas help!
