How many of you that are having a Church ceremony are doing the Unity Candle ceremony at the church? Our priest brought it up last night at our meeting. Originally, we were not going to do it because it was one less thing to worry about, but then our priest told us that almost everyone does it and he suggested that we should do it. Is he right? Does everyone do this?

Re: Unity Candle
We are doing one. I personally like what the unity candle symbolizes, but if you do not want to do it that is your choice.

Re: Unity Candle
If you do not want to do it, then opt out. I'm surprised the PRIEST suggested it! It's not part of a normal church wedding, although it IS increasingly popular. My FH and I are doing this because, like the poster above, I really like what it symbolizes.

Re: Unity Candle
I actually asked my priest, but he said that I don't have to do it b/c it is not really part of the whole wedding, b/c it really is more of a made up thing someone once did and it caught on but if it has meaning to you then great do it but I am trying to cut the time spent in the church so I can get my picts done and get to my PARTYYYYYY

I agree, thats exactly why I didn't want to do it, because it's just extra time and we already are having a full mass ceremony. So I dont think Im gonna do it.
