Re: Unity Candle
I am doing it, i think its a nice physical connection for the wedding and you can light it every year on ur anniversary.
we are getting married in a catholic church, but not a full mass cuz my family is not catholic, so we wanted to add something to make it special.......

Re: Unity Candle
i dont know i feel like it is just one more thing for me to remember to get or diy or something...
um...i remember someone posting about a hand poem or something where you hold hands and the priest/officiant says a little thing about your life together let me see if ican find it
i would rather do that than the unity candle

Re: Unity Candle
Hand ceremony?
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong full of love for you. These are the hands that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever. These are the hands that will work along side of yours as you build your future. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will passionately love and cherish you through the years and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear of grief wraps your mind. These are hands that will give you strength when it is needed These are the hands that will hold your children in tender love, supporting and encouraging them, and knowing when it is time to let go. And lastly these are the hands that even when wrinkled with age, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken love with just a touch.

Re: Unity Candle
we did it because I LOVE candles! LOL! It was sort of a theme at my wedding. And I liked its symbolism.
If you dont like it- dont do it. Its your wedding!

Re: Unity Candle
We're not doing any special 'ceremonies'... I dunno, I dont really like them! I don't even have a valid reason why I guess! I'm just not a fan for myself.

Re: Unity Candle
I received the Waterford Unity Candle Holder set for our Engagement and it's just too beautiful to not use it. So I'm a 'yes'.
