I just noticed from another post that my unity candle part of the ceremony might be in the wrong place
Our ceremony is at the reception hall, and will be done by a priest and a rabbi
Unity Candle Readings Exchange of vows Hands ceremony Exchange of peace Seven Jewish Prayers breaking glass
Where should the candle be?
thanks

Re: Unity Candle
My Unity candle ceremony was after vows.

Re: Unity Candle
I'm thinking after vows is correct since it's the uniting of the 2 of you.......

Oh Hell - I have to redo the program
I thought it was at the start of the ceremony

Re: Unity Candle
I think what is at the start is when the Mom's or whoever light the 2 tapers (if you're choosing to have it done that way) and then the 2 of you light the middle one together sometime after vows.

Re: Unity Candle
At the start of the ceremony don't the mothers light the candles and then you guys go and light the big one after the vows.

Re: Unity Candle
I thought the candles were lit before the ceremony as well- but that's not the way we did it b/c we wanted our mom's to get some attention and we wanted people to know what was going on.

Re: Unity Candle
OK, so if the mom's light the candles at the start, and we light the middle one after the vows, can I still leave it where it is in the program?
Also, how do the mom's light the outer candles? I don't want them up there with a box of matched !!

Re: Unity Candle
At my brothers wedding there was a votive lite by the officiant before the ceremony and they lit the candle by putting it in the votive.
