unity candle/sand?

do you NEED todo this ceremony? or is there an other option?


im not having a religious ceremony and everyone said i 'should' do the unity ceremony b/c of that. but since i started looking for sand kits i just cant find anything i like.

then i started trying to think of something new or more personal to us, and started drawing a blank.

just on the fence about this, but dont wanna hear it from my mom or family. i normally dont care but for some reason i'm caring about this.

There are other ceremononies like rock, wine, water, and hand. I am sure you can find something that you like and will fit best for your wedding.

This. You can customize your ceremony to the way you want it... or at least you should have that option.

yea i want to do something, but nothing has really jumped out at me yet. originally we were gonna do sand but i've seen sand and candle soo many times i'm kinda over it lol

guess i was just trying to figure out something alil new and different, or just more us.

maybe when i stop thinking about it, it will just come to me (at least i still have PLENTY of time lo)

If you figure it out let me know because my FH hates the sand ceremony and we're paranoid about the unity candle because we plan on having the ceremony outside...and I'm paranoid the candle will blow out!!

Totally hear you on this! We're not doing a religious ceremony either, but have decided to do the sand ceremony since it'll be outside and we wanted a beachy kind of wedding.

My FSIL and her husband had a rose ceremony instead of a candle/sand. I can't remember all of it, and I will absolutely ask her about it when they get back from their anniversary trip.

i'm gonna keep hunting and thinking about it.

we seem to be on the same page, i'm over the sand and i've seen every candle but once blow out. and knowing my luck i'd catch on fire or something lol

ive read a few things about that, but there were different versions, one where everyone brought up a rose or one there it was just you and FH.

so on my hunt for something different i came across the knot message boards in Mass. and some girl had a Cocktail Unity Ceremony

her and her FH made a unity margarita. He poured in the tequila, she added the gran marnier, etc, then they downed them.

hahah i just made a BIG mistake and told FH about this and he screamed 'PERFECT!! We can make a cranberry and vodka' - note to self never joke with FH about anything lol now i'll have to spend the rest of the year telling him no
