Universal Life Church and Town of Islip/Suffolk County
Hi Ladies, Anyone have any experience with getting ordained online -specifically Universal Life Church- to marry someone on LI?
We are asking a friend to get ordained through ULC.
My questions are: 1. Is Islip not considered NYC? Meaning she does not have to register with NYC to marry us? 2. Does she have to register with the Town Of Islip? According to the Suffolk County Govt website the local town controls marriage licenses. 3.I'm living in Upstate so I was planning on getting our license in our local town. Do you think that will affect getting married in a different town? I called my local town hall and they don't think it will. But I should prob check with the Town of Islip. 4. Any other tips about getting ordained online and marrying someone in NY?
Thanks!

The local (town) gov't may be in charge of issuing the licenses, but the State gives the power to an official to facilitate the ceremony.
Islip is in Suffolk which is not part of NYC, but like I said, I'm fairly certain the official is given the power by the state.
You 'should' be able to get a marriage license anywhere in the state and get marrried anywhere else in the state.
