unofficial wedding

Hi girls! I am seeking advise from ANYONE out there who can help me... My fiance and I are marrying 2/23/13... 5 1/2 months. to make a VERY long story short, over the past month & a half, my grandfather, my heart & soul is VERY ill and is being moved to hospice today... He as I am trying to accept, will not be at our February wedding. I am beyond heartbroken!!!!
So I was wondering if anyone knows if an 'UNOFFICIAL CEREMONY' is possible ??

Re: unofficial wedding

this happened to my friend and she wanted her family member to be there so bad, they called in someone and did the ceremony at the bedside and signed the paperwork there...they told no one until after the wedding that they were already married in a private ceremony being the passing of the this person...

Sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe you can have a small ceremony or gathering with just your family members that way your grandfather can still witness you both getting married because I'm not sure if you can do an unofficial wedding. If you know someone who can officiate your wedding that will also be helpful and obtaining a marriage license doesnt really take long. HTH

Thank you girls for your replies. I just spoke with my priest and what he can do is an 'engagement blessing'. So I think we will go with that. Thanks again
