unplugged ceremony

unplugged ceremony

I just read this article. It talks about couples asking their guests to turn off their cell phones and not to take pictures. They want their guests to be in the moment, not distracted. Of course I want the Rabbi to ask everyone to mute their devices, but the rest seems kinda rude/bossy. On the other hand, I don't want anything like this at my wedding (see pic). The officiant actually had to ask the guest to sit down!

Oh no! You think that's bossy?.... I guess it's bad I told my FMIL that people with little babies need to be seated in an aisle near the back so that if a baby starts crying, they can run out!

That guy with the camera is pretty funny.. why on earth would you stand there?!?

If that's bossy, I'm really bad. No babies at my wedding, no kids, period!

I have definitely toyed with this idea...I don't know...walking down aisle, I 'd rather see a sea of smiling faces than be blinded by a million flashes.

Though I obviously can't say for certain yet, I don't think you'll even notice that stuff-- you're going to be too busy looking at FH, I think!

Also, NOT bossy IMO-- and with regard to the kids: my FSIL asked her maitre d' to be on 'kid patrol'-- the second a child made a peep, OUT they went! Personally, if it were up to me, there'd be no kids at my wedding but FH is insisting....

Crashing...

That looks like Pastor April in that picture!!!

I think that guy is pushing it getting up there...we had Pastor April just ask people to turn the ringers off their phones, but we didn't mind people taking pictures at all - that's up to them what they want to capture. We didn't even notice it. We were totally just into the moment

I thought that was the 2nd shooter...that's a guest! That's crazy! I love to take pics at friends weddings too, but to get behind the altar location...crazy!

If I get the Priest and the Church I want then I already know he is big on no Photography at all during the wedding. Even from the Photographer. He takes the wedding ceremony serious. He makes a statement about photography before the wedding starts to everyone in the church.
Since he doesnt allow photography during the wedding (entering of the bridal party and leaving is totally ok) he allows the bride and groom to go back in after the ceremony along with him and the photographer to take pics of the big moments. Like handing over of the rings and the kiss.

Hey that's my officiant!

That guy looks like he was just a regular photographer. Some nerve. I went to a wedding where almost the everyone crowded around the couple when they did their vows and took pics. Tacky IMO

It's more than just tacky, it can be distracting. Also, the article made a good point, I want my guests to actually experience the moment with my, not fumble around with iphone apps or whatever. Look at me, not your viewfinder!
