Help girls!! I casually asked my aunt if my cousin was dating anyone since I am not planning on inviting singles with guests. She blew a gasket about inviting him solo. Said it wasn't right etc etc. I pointed out that I am inviting my single brother without a guest, and if I can invite my brother solo I can certainly invite my cousin solo. She is flipping out and making remarks about how he might be dead by then so I won't have anything to worry about. (he is grossly overweight [think Walter Hudson - no joke] and needs surgery to repair his knee) The problem I have with inviting him with a guest (besides the cost and the fact that I'm trying to limit the guest list) is that he showed up at my sister's wedding in May '04 with a professional. I don't want to pay for a 'pro' to be at my wedding, nor do I want to see her in the pictures or the video. My aunt does not believe that woman was a pro, and I don't know how to explain to her that I simply don't want, and can't afford to have people at my wedding that I don't know. Can someone suggest a tactful way to get through to her??

Re: Unusual Family Invite Problem
You've got plenty of time. Let it cool off over the holidays. It is your wedding and you have no obligation to invite guests if you don't want them there. And you made a very valid point that you're not inviting your brother with a guest. Usually the only people invited with guests are those that are engaged or living with a significant other. People that expect to be invited with a guest really irk me.
Once the new year starts, begin bringing it up again. Is this aunt your mom's sister or dad's sister? Ask your parents to help discuss it, if they are around. If not, are there other relatives that could talk some sense into her?
