Unusual question about flowergirl and ringbearer

Okay, we are pretty sure that FH's niece and nephew (or should I say their parents) are willing to do it!! My only concern is that they do not seem to be willing to take them to the reception as well. I know it is not the end of the world but I was looking forward to them being announced as part of our bridal party!! Just curious about some thoughts about this issue because I was assuming that it is customary for the kids to come to the reception if they are part of the bridal party. The ringbearer will be 6 at the time of the wedding and the flowergirl will be 4.

Maybe the parents want to have some adult fun without having to constantly keep one eye peeled for children?JMO

As long as they are in pictures, it shouldn't be the worst thing????????

Re: Unusual question about flowergirl and ringbearer

We're having one flower girl (FH's niece, who'll be 3) and two 'ring bearers' (FH nephews, ages 6 and 4).

Since we have a pretty big gap between ceremony and reception, and the church is closeby to FH parents house, both of FH's brothers were considering taking their kids to a sitter at his mom's house instead of taking them to the reception. They're already having a sitter for their OTHER children who won't be at the church (they are both 1 year of under!)

I told them to do what makes them happy -- both 'moms' have told me they think it might be too long a day for the kids .. Personally I think that both sets of FBIL/FSIL wants to enjoy themselves without worrying about the kids!! (cannot say I blame 'em)

I had 2 flowergirls that were 4 years old, and a ringbearer that was 6. It's definitely a long day for them, but I wanted them to be announced with the rest of the bridal party. So, they stayed for the cocktail hour and were announced, and then they were picked up by their babysitters after this. I thought it worked out nicely, they were announced and then they went home early enough so the parents could enjoy themselves.
