I have a friend who lives with his mother and two cousins, one of whom is on the autism spectrum and goes everywhere with my friend, I assume it's so that he can help him interact. When we sent him the invite, FH and I were crossing our fingers that he wouldn't include him, but lo and behold, we received his rsvp today and along with his other cousin (the invitation was for him and the other cousin) he wrote '+1' and added his cousin.
FH wants me to confront him about this and say that it was not in good taste to add an additional person without asking. The thing is, when I sent out the invite he asked me if his mother was getting a separate invite, to which I replied that he can add her. Either way, he took what I said out of context and invited him as a +1. I don't know what to say to this guy.

Re: Unwanted guests added to invite
Ok my friend had great advice and I said something to the extent of 'saw you added another guest, we're on a tight budget, so although we wish we could add everyone, we're unable to accommodate additional guests.'

Is there a reason that you are inviting the friend their mom and one cousin and not the other cousin.

Re: Unwanted guests added to invite
I don't really know him, but whenever I do see him he brings his cousin along. his cousin has no manners; I can just see him slobbering all over the food at the CH. FH is very angry at my friend for addinv him without asking. It's not like adding people comes cheap, if we're over our minimum that's going to be a lot! Trying to explain this to him without coming off like a jerk.
