Up to my old tricks (sorta vent, sorta funny, sorta long)

So it's been a nice long weekend.

Friday: went to see Matrix 3..finally. Lady behind the snack counter says she can't give me my candy cause she doesnt have it near her.. i have to go to the OTHER SIDE of the counter (new line as well) if I really wanted it. Im like 'You can't go there and get it'.. nope. So I see a manager.. and ask 'Excuse me!!!! Can you please explain why I have to get in a whole new line to buy candy? This lady here says she can't sell it to me cause it's too far from her'.

Heh.. he got it for me. Evil wench tell me I can't have my candy.

Saturday: Jewerly store. Picking up Jim's ring. I wondered why no one had called to say it was in (it was being sized). I dropped in to check. Well guess what? Its in. Where's my receipt? I dont have it I didnt know it was in cause NO ONE CALLED ME. Oh well they must have been busy.. for over two weeks? whatever.. attitude. Then I say were's my insurance paperwork? Come back in 2 days? NO way in hell. I want it now. 'no'.. Uhmmm NO? You don't understand .. This is a $2200 ring.. you want me to walk out with it uninsured and come BACK? are you out of your mind? 'What, like you could insured it on a Saturday anyway'...(I need to mention that at this point Jim says 'Oh, sh!t.. here we go' and took a step away)... 'why yes, I can..cause my dear i WORK FOR in INSURANCE. ... it's saturday not Sunday they ARE open, give me my paperwork!'
I go to the manager (he's cool, knows us but was busy when we came in) and loudly say 'Hey Ron.. explain how I can drop over Seven Thousand dollars in your store and be treated like a nine year old by one of your employees?' That stops him and his customers (Jim is by the way probably looking for cover). Ron comes over and of course and as always is prefect. Lady was pissed as hell. I got my paperwork, our ring and walked out.

I just had it up to hear with the word 'no'. i hear it too much .. no we can't afford this .. no we can't do that cause we're saving.. no that's not possible because of work.. no no no no.. so when it's my money, my time and my wishes.. no is just not an option.

Jim got back in the car and actually started laughing.. He said and I quote 'no wonder lunch was free that day with Jann'

Sorry just had to vent.. some people really need to learn I am the wrong woman to pick on.. go find another tree to bark at.

In a way tho.. i feel vindicated. I had control over WHOOHOO the candy lady and the jewerly lady.. so much lately has been out of my control.

Had to add..

The issue is.. I always walk in with a bright and happy attitude.. all is good and all is well.

I am generally very polite and understanding.. to a point.

This causes the problems.. people assume that Im weak and will fold. Jim would.. Bless him.. I wont. I just can't STAND that people are so lazy that they take advantage of others!

I am the same way. I am very polite and sincere but when its my time and my money the word 'no' doesnt work for me.

Awww, Ronie, I know all you really want is peace (or free lunch).

I'm like that, too. I'm sweet as can be until you piss me off. Then all bets are off. The only time I get extra nice when someone pisses me off is in court. The nastier opposing counsel is, the sweeter I get and the bigger fool he (and it's almost always a 'he') looks. FH says that I'm not aggressive enough when someone needs to be put in their place, but what he doesn't understand is that it is a carefully honed skill, wherein I calmly and quietly and subversively get the other person to give me exactly what I want. Only when someone gets personal do I go apeshit!

Jann
If I ever find the need to get a lawyer I'm calling you for sure!!!

Jim is just so passive and it ticks me off when people take advantage of him. So I end up faster to spark if it has anything to do with him.

He wants candy, he gets it.
He wants his ring, no problem.

I mean im reasonable.. if it can't be done, it can't be done, but these people were just being plain stupid. I have no patience for that.

ETA:
People think I take advantage of Jim myself.. little do they know.. I AM his hugest defender and you definately have to go through me first to get anywhere near him.

Damn, Xelindrya!!! I wish I had your attitude!!! I tend to let people walk all over me sometimes. I don't like confrontations. Wanna share some of whatever you are taking? LOL!!

X will do..or V Im good with both. Some folks call me Xellie (ive been using this 'handle/nick' for a little over 10 years now)

Hey Jann (if you read this) ever notice that the nitwit in that store complimented you on YOUR engagement ring but didn't say a WORD about mine, but I BOUGHT it there!! I told Jim about that and he was kinda ticked. He spent a lot of time and energy into getting me my ring, you'd think they'd recongize it.

All i have to ask is, whatever happend to 'Do onto others...' ya know?

My all time favorites are the Auto folks. 'Ma'am you need a tune up with a new water filter and timing belt' Oh really? Seeing as it hasn't started slipping and the water 'pump' has been replaced only a few months ago and all I asked for was an oil change I suggest you keep your 'filtered water' and your opinions to yourself.

It's so hard to find a good oil shop that won't try to mess with me. I found one though. Oddly enough, 'Ten minute Oil Change' on the hempstead turnpike. Finally a man who NOTICED that I knew my car. whoohoo. Now, he's the only guy I go to. Poor guy stood out in the pouring rain for a half hour trying to find the source of a noise I heard. He never questioned if noise existed he just tried to find it. He's such a sweetie. When he couldnt fix it, he sent me to the guy who fixes his 'vette. Saved me so much hassel, by calling ahead with the problem and basically asked the guy not to treat me like an idiot. The guy said no problems, stayed open late just so I could putt-putt my car over. THAT's SERVICE!

Tell me about it. My FH is a mechanic & he gets a lot of word-of-mouth business becuae he tells customers the truth & will tell them flat out if they do not need something, even if another mechanic tried to tell them they do.

I had a similar situation where a mechanic told me I needed a $1200 radiator for an air-cooled engine in my 1971 VW.... um, if it is air-cooled, it has no radiator, and furthermore, a 1971 radiator from VW for th ecars that need it was only $350 at the time. Puh-Lease!

That's really f'ed up that your jewler didn't recognize thier own work....I would be pissed too.

Ronie, yeah, I noticed that. It could have been because I was the one looking at the $2300 pearl necklaces! I hate it when I go into a jewelry store and the woman behind the counter is wearing bling bling out her ass and says to me, 'Oh, you're ring is beautiful,' in that 'oh-how-cute' kind of voice that tells you she's kissing ass, I feel like saying, 'Look lady, I think my ring is beautiful, other people may think my ring is beautiful, but when you're decked out in more diamonds than one human being should ever be wearing at once, and you're looking to make a sale, I think you're full of sh*t. But thanks.'

Bleh. I think the only thing worse than car salespeople and insurance agents (OK, and lawyers ) are the women who work in jewelry stores.
