I think it all depends on the person. Some woman change earlier then others. I would ask your Doctor if I were you

(((CLAPS))))) to you Michelle!!! I am in my late 20s and have a ways to go before we TTC but I am just curious as I am going back and forth on how to balance going back to school, career and children when we are ready. I have been thinking about this alot lately.

I think many women are having them later. BABY DUST *************************** I'm almost 35 and haven't had any children yet.

Wanda, I think it depends on the person... But here is what I know (or believe):
A woman's fertility is at its peak at age 27 (I read this in some stat survey, I think in Time magazine) According to the same survey, fertility starts to drop after that, and becomes much lower once you're 35!!!
According to Dr. Mom (i.e. my own mom) one should have their first child before 30 in order for things to be more healthy...
We plan to follow the Dr. Mom rule, if for no other reason, just to be safe and try our best to have a natural pregancy without various treatments.
I trust Dr. Mom in this case b/c women's fertility is not affected by science and drugs, so the old wife's tales in this case may be true.

My doc told me to start TTC by next year b/c it may take a while to get preggo. I'm 32 now.

My doctor told me to wait...I am 30 and she told me I had plenty of time. I thought that was strange. I am going to see her again at the end of the year and see what she says.
I asked my GYN about the under 30 thing (I was 27 at the time) and she said that if you take care of yourself there are no problems...and she had 3 children after 36...

I think the #'s that they say like '30 is old' are probably the rules that applied 50 years ago when you got married at 19, and had your first child at 20. Also, if you died at 65 back then, that was old! I have seen MANY women over 30 and over 35 who have healthy pregnancies and perfect babies. Each woman is different, some women can have a bad pregnancy at 23, depends on the history of that person. I did see a woman in the Labor and Delivery department who was 47 and having a baby. I think that might be a little too old. (she went into labor at 28 weeks)

My mother was 45 when I was born. That was almost 36 years ago.
