Update Feb 17 wedding

Hello everyone, I just got back from my honeymoon and wow, what a change in this site. Anyway, I wanted to give an update on my wedding. The reception hall: Flowerfield was incredible. The atmosphere was perfect, the food was incredible. (I got so many compliments) The bridal attendant, and matre de were fantastic. They made sure the day was perfect. The photographer: Gray Studios Tanya was fantastic. She made picture taking fun. She was perfect, not pushy, not bossy, she didn`t take us away from our wedding. The DJ: SpinAroundSound Tom did a fantastic job. My only instructions to him was to get my guests dancing and keep them dancing. He did an amazing job. The Florist: James Cress The flowers were beautiful. At the church, at the reception, my bouquet, the girls bouquets, couldn`t be better. The Honeymoon: We went to Hawaii (Maui) It was paradise! Word of advice: Pay the extra money to fly first class. It was the best plane ride of my life. Nine hours never went faster. The only sad part is that it is over. Never did I dream my wedding would be so perfect. Good luck to everyone! If I can be of any help just send me an email. Kristi

Update Feb 17 wedding

Sounds great. Can I ask a few questions. Spin around sound - Was Tom the DJ or MC? Did you look at any other DJs and if so why did you choose them? Gray Studios - How did you pick Tanya out of all the photopgraphers at Gray? Hawaii - Where did you stay? Thanks.

Update Feb 17 wedding

Tom was both DJ and MC. He did have an assistant, but Tom was the main DJ. I personally didn't want someone who talks alot and dances etc.... so Tom is the one to choose. If you like Techno type music, and you want someone to go on the dance floor to entertain, then he will send Anthony. Gray Studios. I had heard that all their photographers were great. The day I made an appointment, it happened to be with Tanya. I liked her work, she was familiar with Flowerfield, she has a great personality, I just knew she was the one to use. In Hawaii, we stayed at the Maui Mariott. We didn't island hop because I didn't want to have to pack and unpack, and Maui has so much to do. I picked the Mariott because they had a good honeymoon package that included a convertable (you definately need to rent a car), valet parking, breakfast (which was about $35) We would eat breakfast at the buffet and skip lunch. We also got free beach rentals, snorkels, scuba gear, etc...(which can be costly) Plus the staff was so friendly and helpful. Anything we wanted, we got. There was champagne waiting for us when we arived. They did the flower lei greeting. It was great. The Hyatt also has good packages. I did alot of research on the web, but if you call the hotels directly, you can usually get a deal. The Grand Wailea and the Ritz Carlton were the absolute best, but very expensive. We said we would stay there for our 10th anniversary.

Thanks for all the details. I also don't want heavy mc'ing but do want alot of dance music. I am thinking about not using any lights at all. Did you have any? Also, while in Hawaii did you happen to go to Kea Lani. It has been recommended to me. Thanks and congratulations. You should try to post some pictures if possible.

Update Feb 17 wedding

We picked the chilean sea bass, the steak and the broiled chicken. They gave us a sample of each at the wedding (which I thought was pretty cool) The chilean sea bass was the best. For the appetizer, we chose the sea scallops and a salad. You can have the option of having the hot appetizer and salad served together on the same plate. It looked terrific and it saved a lot of time. You will be amazed when you go for the tasting.

Can you give me any details on what kind of flowers you got (how many bouquets, arrangements, and such) and a ball park figure on how much it cost. We are going to meet with them to get a quote, but wouldn't mind having a little bit to work from before going in there. Thanks, and CONGRATS!! Enjoy your new life!

Unfortunately I cannot tell you how much we spent on the flowers because my mother-in-law paid for them. Gary Cress is a friend of hers. We got one arrangement for the church, the pew bows, my bouquet, maid of honor, 2 bridesmaids, 1 junior bridesmaid, 5 boutannieres, 2 grandma coursages, 1 stepmom coursage, 2 mother bouquets and a throw away bouquet. James Cress will be a little more expensive than others, but the quality is far above the rest. Depending on your budget, I would expect tp spend 2-4 thousand.

I am having my wedding at Flowerfield and was wondering when you pick out the cake. How was it? Did you use Carol from MAC for makeup or was that someone else?

I am using James Cress as my florist for my wedding. They came highly recommended from different people. You can have any package you want, they are very flexible. Go for a free quote and tell him your needs and budget. Good luck!

Update Feb 17 wedding-Kristi

You pick your cake when you are ready to pick your menu. We did it about 3 weeks before the wedding. We decided to be different, we chose a chocolate cake with strawbeery mouse and canoli filling. Everyone raved about it. I did use Carol from MAC for my make-up. She did a terrific job on myself, my mom and all my bridesmaids.

Kristi......Question about MAC

I actually found Carol from MAC through this site. Someone used her and said she was good. I gave her a call and went for a free trial. She was very nice and my make-up looked great. You could go to any MAC counter and ask who does make-up independantly. I would definately go for the free trial. Here is the # for Carol: work # (631) 382-3264 home # (631) 474-1525
