Update from dr.

I told you that I am having a lot of bad back pain which is really bad at night and I can't sleep because of it. Well, the dr said it was my kidney and sent me for a sonogram. The test results are back & both my kidneys are not functioning as they should.They said my kidneys are backed up. This could be due to pregnancy because all the organs are being pressed together. I have to go to the dr every week so they can keep monitoring my kidneys. Unfortunately I can't take anything for the pain because I am pregnant.
Does anyone know of anyone who had this?
I am wondering what they may want to do.
I am going to ask them next week if they would possibly want me to have the baby sooner because of this. The bigger the baby gets, the worse it will be on my kidneys and I'm already in a lot of pain.

I am so sorry to hear about your pain. I am glad you got a diagnosis so you can be monitored properly. Is the condition expected to clear up on its own after delivery? How many weeks are you now?

Victoria:The dr said that it is common during pregnancy and that hopefully it will resolve itself otherwise I have to get stents put in. The dr said the good thing is that I am so far along in my pregnancy already.
I'm wondering if the drs will want me to have the baby a few weeks earlier because I would imagine the further along I get, the bigger baby gets, the more problems it will be for me with my kidneys.

Sue, I am sorry to hear. That is one thing my GF told me, she was like, when the space starts getting small in there and the baby starts pressing down on everything it can get to be painful. I hope this time passes quickly for you.

I hope you're feeling better and I hope your condition resolves itself asap! I'm just curious how did the Dr determine that you're kidneys were not functioning the way the should be? Was it just by the sono? Also did you have pain on both sides of your back or just one?

I had bad back pain while pg, but not like this. I feel for you!!! Hope you feel better soon & find a way to get some much needed rest.

Sue, I am so sorry for all the pain you are going through. I hope everything works out for you. I am still waiting for my results from last week. I am suppose to find out today. Hang in there.

Sue, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope it is short lived and everything works out. Keep us posted. Did the doctor mention bed rest since you are in so much pain?

Florenze, The dr can tell about the problem with my kidneys from the sonogram. I think they are in a different shape than they should be.The dr was trying to show me pictures of what healthy kidneys looked like in comparison but I really don't know what I was looking at. I only feel the pain in one side of my back so I was surprised to hear that both sides are like that. I am not in pain all the time. It comes and it goes. Its very strange. Its worse at night.
