your flower budget? I have no idea how to figure this out. In our 'budget' I think we have allotted like $3K for flowers - is that a reasonable amount? I don't know which flowers I want, but I will need:
20 centerpieces bridal bo-k 6 bm bo-ks 6 gm boutoneres something for the placecard table something for the church maybe a corsage for each of our moms
Thoughts? What is average - is there an average? I have two flower apts tomorrow. TIA!

Re: how did you figure out
do you want high or low centerpieces?
if you def want church and place card decor i think 3k might be a little low...i would guess about 3.5k
whatever they tell you tho....tell them your budget is lower....they should be able to create alternative suggestions for bo-k and CP that will save on costs!! ...so if they quote you more than 3....say you were hoping to spend like 2.5 but no more than 3 really...and just see what they say.
who are you seeing?
you should talk to designs by rose and tell her your budget is 3k...she will try to work with you the best she can! she is also good with email!

Re: how did you figure out
A friend of mine just got a flower quote of 2K, which blew me away!! She has 10 low cp's & 10 high cp's, 12 bm bo-k's, 9 gm boots, bathroom flowers, a throw bo-k, her bo-k, fh's boot, corsages for mom's & g-ma's, boot's for dad's and g-pa's, and I think that's it. She went to Wick's in Baldwin, so I have an appointment there tomorrow. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
I think 3K is reasonable, but I'll tell you how this goes

thank you!
I actually want all low centerpieces and nothing very intricate. Tomorrow I am meeting Flower Michele and Flowers by Brian - both recommended house vendors at my RH.
Thanks for the tip . . . keep them coming!

Re: how did you figure out
Low cp's should be at a max $90....most girls are between $60 and $80, so I think the budget of $3k is high, you will probably come in way under that.

We're using Flowers by Brian and they gave us a fantastic price and threw in a ton of free stuff. Good luck!

Re: how did you figure out
okk ok. low centerpieces are way more do-able for 3k....so then tell them your budget is 2k and you dont want to spend more than 2.5
you get the idea...just get them to think creatively instead of giving you their standard packages. of course you can always go with the original package presented, but its worth to hear more options!
if you really want to get a benchmark tho, email rose. thats how i started my search. i emailed her back in the fall and i asked if 1.5k was a reasonable budget..and she basically told me that she could probably do what i wanted for 2k (depending on # of tables, of course)....so i always had that in the back of my mind when seeing other vendors
also find out what they are throwing in free...that stuff adds up!! most places throw in petals (for FG and decor) and cake flowers.....some give boots for free...otheres give the whole FG basket for free
either way, the majority of your cost will come from teh CP, so the lower you can go on that...the better
ok...enough from me...i havent even signed the contract yet

Re: how did you figure out
this was a big problem for us cause i have such a big bridal party.. and over 200 people at my wedding. my FH said 2-2500 budget for flowers. I knew that was goin to be impossible.. so i budgeted 3000.. and i went with Jen from verbena. who gave me a great price and she is sooo awesome I highly recommend her. she does only 1 wedding at a time and she pays attention to detail. shes one of my favorite vendors.. im having half high and half low centerpieces.. :) def check her out. good luck!!:)

UPDATE: how did you figure out
So, I met with Flower Michele today and my mom and I were impressed. We met with the owner John and he was super nice, completely interested in the event (I mean ALL the details) and really seemed to 'get' what I'm looking for. The quote seems good, but its more than I budgeted, here goes:
7 bo-k's including mine 2 kissing balls 1 rb bout 11 bouts for FH, gm our dads, etc 4 corsages, for our moms, gmoms 20 cps 1 willow branch treatment for the placecard table 2 altar arrangements 6 mini-bows and arrangements for the church pews cake topper, decorations
Total, with tax is about 3800 . . . any thoughts? We are still going to meet with a few others, but the flowers we will use are: peonies lisianthus dahlias cymbidium orchids hydrangea (green mums for the fgs and rb)
TIA for any thoughts / advice!

The more I think about it I should have just gotten low cps...

Re: UPDATE: how did you figure out
That quote may be a tad on the high side. Your having alot of CP's so if they are approx $80 each (just estimating) then your CP's alone are going to just cost you $1,600.
If you want to cut a few corners and stay within budget, my florist encouraged me to not get an altar arrangement to save money.

Re: UPDATE: how did you figure out
I just researched what other girls were getting and based my pricing on that, and I ended up beating my own budget by $500

Re: UPDATE: how did you figure out
When i first read it before you had updated with exactly what you were getting, I thought 3K sounded about right but I do think that, 3000 was actually a tad low for all you are getting. But maybe like you said 3800 was still on the high side. I didnt negotiate all that much with John but I did a little. Maybe he will go down to 3500...cant hurt to ask. I think he would definately go down by something
